Get off the Road Races Nuts. Road Races is doing a great job of making a turbo kit, then selling you a clutch kit while there at it
Well it makes sense to change out the clutch anyway, even if it wasnt making too much power for the stock clutch, it wouldnt last too much longer after turbo chararging the car anyway, it would start slipping, etc.
why poor cvt? nobody knows what the cvt can do yet. in fact, no one has even touched the cvt ecu. that is the upside to the cvt, its software driven just like the engine cvt, so its probably going to be very customizable.
First of all see THIS second... they are saying that the stock clutch is not holding a chance with the turbo system... usually manual trannys hold much more power that the automatic... i dont even wanna know with CVTs... rrm really needs to impress me with the cvts cause it not about cvt vs 5sp... its about people that WANT the cvt and want performance.... and rrm is taking really long with this... i think the turbo kit fgrom the other guys is gonna be out first that theirs
Not always, but generally speaking you are right, I know the 3g Eclipse auto tranny was very strong people were getting well over 300hp on a stock auto tranny, BUT that is a traditional auto tranny, comparing that to what a CVT can handle, who really knows for sure until someone actaully tests it out........
LOL, 17 sec 1/4 mi...you are an idiot if you are a racer and bought this car. You should have known from the test drive that its not a fast car. Give me a break, you got a case of "MPH" (My pussy hurts!). I knew full well this car was a dog when I bought it. I drove a VW 1.8T and a Pontiac G6 GT. Both pretty quick, my 1.8T had a chip exhaust, the works and it was fast as hell. I am happy with my GTS because I get 27mpg everyday. If I can get a good deal on a turbo or supercharger kit, I will go that route, but damn dude...you made a mistake by not doing your homework. Get over it.
Who else is making a turbo kit besides RRM and WORKS? Works is too wrapped up in their race car right now, don't hold your breath on them getting any meaningful products out in the near future. RRM, they are in the lead...but they have NOT cracked the ecu, all they have done so far is make a piggy back, which intercepts the ecu's signals with its own.
Exactly! Which is why if you have a turbo built by a local shop that has no way of tuning, then your car will blow. Its not that I'm all over RRMs nuts, its just they know thier crap. I trust them. I don't trust Bubby at Macs Performance Shop to build a turbo and do a "backyard" tune on it.
Update . OUr car is virtually done. JUst need to change the clutch and we will be doing huge burnouts. Look for vids soon. ROAD/RACE
drove the car back from the tuner the other day. all i can say is that i had a huge smile on my face the whole way to the shop, 80-110 pulls where effortless and burnout and the touch of a pedal, i almost want to sell my scubby and build a turbo 08. MAN ITS FUN.
so im guessing that OBVIOUSLY while you had that huge smile, there was a camera filming all this big experience for us to enjoy?
We promise something of a vid or pics this week. Just too busy. Also swapping clutch out so once that is done......... ROAD/RACE
