Even though getting rid of our lancers for a ralliart or an overpriced Evo sounds good, im gonna be realistic; I want to get rid of my slowmatic lancer just like all of us on the forums because we want a car that gives back to the driver when we spend $$ on performance parts. But i know that i will get bent over backwards if i trade mine in for a ralliart, and im not gonna let mitsubishi do that to me again..... well maybe this summer my ass wont be so sore and mitsubishi can bend me over once more!!! :(

    trade in

Well so far i have only ever traded in one car and that was my GMC sonoma, when i traded in it for my lancer they actually gave me a hundred bucks over what i paid for it. So i am hoping to get that same blind luck again when i go back for the RA, or at least not a total killing on my trade in.

I went to my dealer to find out a trade in value, for my fullly loaded GTS w/CVT they were only going to give me 15k, and my car is pristine. Unless you sell privately, expect to get screwed sideways.

Testpilot your dealership sucks, a guy on Project lancer just traded his car that was a fully loaded gts with 5k for 18000 to get a GSR, if i were you i would go to a diff dealer and see what they would give you.

So I checked with the dealer for trade in value.. 08 GTS S&S package 5sp... 13,500... what a rip.. I told them to go ...... Anyways, any one thinking of trading there new GTS ladies in I would stick it out and keep her for a while.. Give it time, the aftermarket parts will come and she will run like a dream.....

    Exactly what Homie wrote... Before you go for a Trade In appraisal, better get a hold on a real big bottle of vaseline, you will need it;

The best thing mate is to try your best and do a private sale. Go to www.autotrader.com and find out who's selling their 08 Lancer and at what price/condition; Go to Kelly Blue Book and see if they're already giving out Sale prices depending on your lancer's conditions. Good luck.

I was thinking the same, but in the end, you'd get screwed so I'm passing over my 08 Lancer to my wife and getting me either a Ralliart or an MR (Ralliart sounds more like it lol, only 25k)... Let's see what happens...

It's true that if you trade in your '08 Lancer for the RA you will take a hit, the size of that hit is entirely up to you. There are many factors you can use to your advantage when dealing with your Mitsu dealer. Don't be afraid to haggle or bring someone that can haggle on your behalf. I'm in sales myself and I know the little tricks of the trade but I'm still bringing my father to help me tag team the poor S.O.B. that helps us. Go at the end of the month when they're looking to roll over their inventory. Don't forget to use your $500 loyalty bonus. Shop around. Don't take what one dealer says as truth for all. Sometimes going out of state can get you a great deal because you're found business for them. Spend the entire day at the dealership if you have to. Be an ass, you're not ther to make friends. Haggle and argue over every little thing both on your trade-in and the new vehicle you're purchasing. Try and get free stuff. Remember they're going to make a killing off of you with service as well. With the price of gas and the recent woes of all automakers you definately have some ammo to use against these people. Having stellar credit and money to put down will also help keep those payments down too.

I checked into it... The dealer was only willing to give 13,500.. In my eyes it is not worth getting burnt that bad...Selling private you may be able to get 15-16k

if your dealers are not ripping new a new one like here you should only lose 1 to 3 k on a trade in

here theyre offering me this for a 2008 lancer ES (GTS equipement minus the bodykit)

i STILL owe 24,000$ on the car

dealer is offering 16,500$ on a trade in

thats a 7500$ lost right there 8O (thats at 2 mitsu dealerships)

went to a VW dealership theyre offering me 21K for the car in the same condition and the GTi i was looking at is 18k txs in

mitsubishi are overpriced cars not worth what were paying, and to top it off mitsu want to rip you a new a**hole

I was lookin to trade in my fully loaded gts for a fully loaded evo the dealer was gonna give me 19000 for mine, with 18000 miles on it, then i tried to to get a 04 x3 and they (bmw) offerd me 17900 with 24000. so i depends on where you go and how much of a sweet talker you are...2.0 is a comodity right now. ya kow man????

    Kelly's Black Book Value

I didn't go through on any other trims, but the DE with all options (Auto, AC, Power Windows/Locks) in prime condition with 13,000 KMs according to Kelly's Black Book is worth $12,800 ... I'm assuming that's U.S. (or at least praying) cause that's a lot of money to lose of the top on a car that is not even a year old yet!
