    s/c or turbo

I'm not sure which is really better. I know I had an older firebird that was s/c and it was fast as f*(k. but I do agree it did have wheel spin...but it was rwd so not so bad. but are you guys saying a turbo will not produce the same effect since its not kicking in at lower gears?Project lancer had a post about a turbo that they were working on. but I'm not sure its complete yet. They had a video of it running on a track. seemed pretty good but they did not push it hard. but diffidently looked faster.

Typically turbo's take longer to spool then superchargers because Turbo's are exhaust-driven. Superchargers aren't. But that "spool time" could always be cut down to something more responsive by having a smaller turbo, turbo-upgrade, stuff like that.

Why would a S/C be better for the CVT?

Sorry for the late post guys but i dont see how a turbo would put more stress on your motor than a S/C. You can get a boost controller to relieve boost if needed. Turbo is only really harder on your tranny if you were to sit there and spool it up and holding the break down while in gear i believe. regardless of your application its gunna ware your motor and other componets out faster than normal. Correct me if im wrong but a S/C pulls away power to operate but makes it up with the boost it generates

    Re:

Yes there may not be "lag" on a supercharger but depending on the type of supercharger you wont get full boost until redline(which would be good for top end power but usually wont see much more on bottom end) especially on a Centfrugal type supercharger which would probly be the only type to fit on the Lancer rather cheaply

i don't think a s/c is a bad idea. Ripp mods S/C made great power on the 4G eclipse GS 4cyl. i drove it stock and then with the s/c and wholy fuck it was a completly dif. car.

I'll stick with the T/C.. I've heard too many scary stories bout the S/C (especially the company called RIPP)..

    newb question:

wouldnt you want a supercharger with the CVT just because you wouldnt experience the lag that you would with a turbo on a CVT?

i have also thought about supercharging my lancer but id just love a turbo set up more. lol
