I wonder how the fiberglass will hold up in the winter. If it crappy made....it will spider crack in the winter.

Even though I am sitting here with my credit card in hand wanting to buy this hood...I'm gonna wait for a polyeurathan hood just because u know its stronger.

Nice price and choice for hood!

Oh hey as far as c/f hood vs. f/g hoods.

What you need to know is that a true c/f hood
would run you well over $1200-$1500.

    True c/f hoods are made:

    1- top layer is c/f
2- btm layer is kevlar or carbon kevlar
this gives the hood extreme strength and
keeps it from shattering into millions of
    pieces upon impact.
3- They also vacuum the excess resign
in a vacuum form machine. This keeps the weight
    down.
4- they also some times use a honeycomb style
material between layers to give thickness.
5- most true finished c/f parts are not shiny and look
    and feel rough.

c/f parts that we find readily avaliable to us on the market are usually backed in f/g and not vacuumed. This keeps the price down so the masses(us lil people) can afford the look of c/f and enjoy the benefits of a bit lighter than stock part. True c/f parts weigh an 1/8th of what we buy as c/f. So these parts are a steal at these prices and yes they can and will more than likely spider crack. It all depends on how hot they mix the resign. The longer the set up time the better the part and less cracking you will get or none.

Well any ways NOT my $0.02.
Just a bit of insight and knowledge for any of you that care. If not then
cool to. I cant afford the real deal myself unless I make it and I just dont have time for that any more. LOL!, but hey I have a company that I deal with that makes molds and if any1 wants to donate their hood and split the cost of the mold and for the materials to make a hood in c/f and or f/g, then let me know. We can go over details and maybe offer this part to the rest of the Lancer guys. $$$$$$$$$$$$$----shhhhhhhhhhh! Im NOT selling anything JakeGTS. Just putting an idea out there.

Do they custom paint and if so, how much does that cost? I've seen the hoods off roadracemotorsports.com and they are REALLY nice looking, but are really expensive. This is a lot less expensive, but, I think I like the other one better. If anyone else has this, can you post a few pics? Thanks!

Its a nice looking hood, just poor placement of the vents. Usually the front vents are there to have header heat escape, but as we all know our exhaust is in the back of the engine.

Still looks great though and is the best that i have seen by far.

This hood is close to the Evo X hood with the front vents, although a little low, it could be funtional..... If those vents are even open on the aftermarket hood.....

    F/G vs. C/F

Ok guys, what's the difference between the f/g and the c/f? Other than 100 dollars?

The difference is that with the fiberglass one, you know you have fiberglass.

With the CF one, you think you have CF, but you actually have fiberglass with like 2 layers of CF.

If you are buying the CF hood for the durability of CF, dont bother. If you are just buying it for looks, like most people are, then its worth it.

Color and weight, if it's actually c/f and not an overlay. Everything else should be the same though, unless you paint them. Well, you will have to paint the f/g either way, but yeah. :D

Uh, I sound retarded, but I'm not sure i understand. I'm doing it for the look and the venting. Is one more durable than the other? And if I want it painted do I have to paint it? CAN I paint it? I don't know much about this stuff. Thanks for the help!

Oh, and is the fiberglass one better? Why is the C/F more expensive?

If you just want the look and you want a CF look, just get the CF hood. Just know that its basically a fiberglass hood with a couple layers of CF.

It will break just like a fiberglass hood. Fiberglass sucks. You could punch your hood and fuck it up if you wanted to. Just know I mean a "YOU SLEPT WITH MY GIRLFRIEND" punch, not a "You are such a cutey!" punch

    Re: F/G vs. C/F

Read my reply a page or two earlier on this topic.

Yeas you can any 1 of them.

C/F is more because the material is more and takes a bit longer to lay in a mold. Dont wanna mess up the weave.

Does the C/F hood have a latch so hood pins are not needed??? Anyone know....
