Got the file back and tuned. Cost me an additional $75. All total this file cost me almost 400 bucks. But OMFG! I was skeptical at first but my tuner worked on it and got it going and holy shit! First, I chirped the tires stepping on it which I have NEVER been able to do with a CVT. Next, I was at 75-80 in the time it use to take me to get to 60. I am going to take it to the track with my tuner and he is going to tweak it some more. But 6K as a shift point seems to be optimal now. The lag at launch is still there, but not nearly as bad. The get up and go is definitely alot more noticable. My wife drove it today and she was like "Uh babe... What did Ray do to your car? It's alot faster now it seems...." So for her to notice is huge. My tuner did fuck with me at one point tho... He changed something and said, now try... this should be alot better... And I stepped on it and it creeped along. I said Uh dude it's floored. He started laughing and said Pull over, Im fuckin with you and relfashed it so it was back to good again. Scared me! All I gotta say is this was WAY over budget, I am embarassed about how much this whole build cost me, but Good LORD is it a different car.

CVT is the type of transmission option on the new Lancers. From what I know of it, or think I know, it's an automatic transmission that can be controlled by paddle shifters.

    Per wikki....
A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is a transmission that can change steplessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios between maximum and minimum values. This contrasts with other mechanical transmissions that offer a fixed number of gear ratios. The flexibility of a CVT allows the driving shaft to maintain a constant angular velocity over a range of output velocities. This can provide better fuel economy than other transmissions by enabling the engine to run at its most efficient revolutions per minute (RPM) for a range of vehicle speeds. Alternatively it can be used to maximize the performance of a vehicle by allowing the engine to turn at the RPM at which it produces peak power. This is typically higher than the RPM that achieves peak efficiency.

Good to know things are going well so far. Can't wait to see some track times. :)

Much better understanable, so does the computer tell it to change or is it like over drive? Stomp on the gas and it changes.

I'm a self-taught mechanic, and have done plenty of trans work...and I still dont fully comprehend the CVT thing. I get the whole ratio thing and CV input shaft thing...I guess its just going to take breaking one ouen to figure it out. lol

Bel, Glad to hear that everything has come together. I was in the same boat with my ECU when Aftershok flashed it...they called me and said that there was a file that they weren't able to manipulate. They finally got it after working with it for a week....

Actually it really doesnt change... It sounds like 1 gear that never shifts. The first time my wife heard it she thought the trans was bad. I'll post a Youtube video of a guy that recorded his 1-100 You can hear the trans best this way.

This is NOT, I repeat THIS IS NOT My Car...... It's a video I found to show the CVT Trans.

nope i dont like it either that just bugs the hell out of me not hearing any shift points

My sisters car is like that. She drive a 2002 vw passat. I was like "WTF?! Shit isn't shiftin gears. This ain't right?". Yea im not a fan of cvt at all. No wonder why trying to turbo one is damn near impossible. There are no real set gear shift ratios. So its basically impossible to tune for load not unless you are constantly hauling everywhere at the same pace.

    That's really weird.
