When I was getting my Crank pulley installed my mechanic took off a wheel to get to the crank pulley.. when he was putting it back on he said "if you wanna gain some HP, get some lighter wheels" My question is... arent out rims alloy? What makes our tires heavy? the rims? or the wheels? alloy is light.. no? Having lighter wheels-rims will make us faster because its easier to spin... right or wrong? and where can I get some nice rims-tires?

its also due to the construction of the wheels and design...the more intricate of a design....the use of more metal....more weight

there are plenty of manufactures that create lightweight rims...advan, gram lights, 5zigen just to name a few.

I would suggest buying ur rims locally....buying off the internet is difficult because you cant see them....some pictures dont give justice

just to add on to that, the pricing for advans r xpensive , but i guess u get wht u pay for

but a cheaper company which makes decent rims i would say is rota, even though there just replicas but there pretty light, i mean if ur not rallying with them they will b fine

be careful with using too light of a rim....I heard of some instability at high speed with really light rims

I hope not... I just got some BBS RG-R's at long last! Had a problem with one rim being a different color... over a month of stuffin round. All good getting prices now on Yokohama Advan Sport here in Aus atm. Just trying to decide tire size... maybe 215/35/18?

The factory tire size in 18" on the 08+ Lancer is 215/45-18. You can use the alternate 225/40-18 for tires.

This is only true if you buy a low quality wheel. If you are paying for a high quality competition wheel this isnt something you deal with. If you see an 18" wheel that weighs 19 lbs and its only $500 for a set, you will definately have this problem.
