Tomorrow I am taking my stock rims off and getting winter tires installed. During this long Edmonton winter I am thinking about painting my stock rims a different color. I have the Electric Blue GTS and I'm trying to think of what color wheels would look sharp with a blue car? Any sugestions for anyone out there?
Everyone is gonna have their personal opinion on it. Go with what you feel is best. Your best bet is to have someone photoshop the stock wheels in different colors on your car and youll be able to see exactly what itll look like
i would say either gunmetal.....i already did mine....my car is white though. u could go witht eh subaru look and go with bronze...... im thinking gunmetal would look really nice. i like mine!
im gonna paint the center mitsu logo red JDM styles too....i did my front n back this past weekend.....looks wicked....dont have pics yet....will post some tomm...
HomieG, that doesn't look bad at all. Can you post your paint and how you went about prepping the wheels? Also you have more shots of your car in clear view of the whole car and everything? Thanks.
alright i tried this on my winter rims from my previous car first b4 i tried it on the OEM rims... its the easiest thing to do. Products you need: - - 2 cans of Wheel Paint - 1 can of wheel Primer/ primer in an aerosol container. - 1-2cans of clear coat - 2 decks of playing cards - 1 roll of asking tape (for the center caps) first you shove the cards in between your rim and tire so you dont get paint all over your tires. i chose not to use masking tape cuz it becomes soft and not reliable when paint hits it. cards hold their strenght. i sprayed a coat of primer on well cleaned rims obviously. you dont really need to sand them down unless you have scrathes or curb damage, etc. i let it sit for a few hours, till it was completely dry. i then applied a first coat of paint to all the rims and let it sit for one entire day. paint takes longer than primer to dry and i guess its better to let it sit and dry and not hurry the process. next day i put on another coat cuz you will see that you would ahve missed a couple spots here and there...so just a light coat of paint over the first one makes it perfect. DO NOT OVERSPRAY!!!! it will drip and then it will look liek crap and you will have to sand the enitre thing and re-do it. you might as well wait till it dry so u can see better where you have missed any spots. i let it sit for another day if ncecessary. final step....clear coat. this gives the rim a nice shine and looks nice. also protects the paint and rim. gets hard and strong. i then masked the center caps cuz i wanted the original mitsu symbol to stand out.....this was the hardest part!!! hated masking those things!!!....a frnd helped me out though witht hat so it was ok! let the rim sit for another day and you are set to go!! no need to take the tire off of the rim or anything. here are pics of my winters and OEM's before and after this is just a pic of my car witht he winters on! i will post more pics of my entire car soon....with the OEM one's and the mitsu symbols red!! HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE IT!!!
