Ok, thx the Serious I am able to complete my system. He sold me 2 converters so I could wire them to my amp. Now it'll be done right. I would like to add that everything I needed to do to put in a system I found on this site. This includes a DIY on removing the deck, wiring diagram for the audio to know what wires are what, and a great sells person who sent me the items a week before I started this. (Serious08) One more thing, install your system yourself...don't pay someone cause unless you trust the person, they MAY do the cheap route. This shop I went to wired everything through the rear left speaker at the back of the car instead of behind the deck. This means not fader, no balance, and no equalizer. Now I know there are professional people on this site and by no means is this a blast on you guys, but I've gone to 3 shops in different cars to get these things done assuming they would do it right and each time I was wrong. Personal experience has taught me this. *Edit* ok, in doing this myself, I must have wired something wrong or whatever. Here is the deal... I have 2 sets of RCA converters. My amp is a Kicker 5channel. I cut the wires behind the deck and connected them to the RCA converter like this: Front: Left - white/blue pos. Left - black/yellow neg. right - white/red pos. right - black/red neg. Rear: Left - yellow/blue pos. left - Gray/blue neg. right - yellow/red pos. right - gray/red neg. After I connected the wires and RCAs...the front set of RCAs is giving out a signal for all 4 speakers and when I connect the rear set of RCAs the rear speakers dim in sound. when i pull the rear RCAs out the rear sound comes back. I double checked the wires behind the deck and those are ok. It also seems that my 3rd and 4th channel aren't working properly. Channels 1 and 2 is what's working. the front and rear set of RCAs work on Channel 1 and 2 and not on 3 and 4. What the bloody hell is going on? Is it my 3rd and 4th channel that are weird or did I wire something wrong? *edit* also, everything fades to the front and nothing to the rear when I disconnect the rear set of RCAs
You must have a speaker wire, wired incorrectly or something. Do you have a multimeter to see if you've got the right wires for the right speakers?
that's a negative on the meter. But the speakers don't work right on the 3rd and 4th channel. I hooked up the front and then the rear speakers to the 1st and 2nd channel on my amp and they worked fine. Here's another question though...could the REM wire have any affect on this? I had a place install the amp, originally. Even when i pulled the deck out the shop didn't wire anything back there. I'm wondering if the REM could be the problem...or amp...hell, IDK!!! ugh... :x
well well well. keep it to the pros to do it. u dont have 2 go to the back of the radio 2 get ur remote wire when keeping the oe radio.
Well, another easy way to test if you have the right speaker wires, is to use a small battery like a AA or 9V, and the speaker will make a slight sound. It would also be good to make sure none of those wires are a ground or power wire.
you know...when i started having probs and posted that I needed help...i had a feeling you were gna say something...lol now they did install it but not the way I wanted it installed. but one thing I can take from this...experience...the pros had to start somewhere and if I make this a business I gotta know this kinda stuff cause I want to install speakers with the proper fade and balance. I just don't understand where I went wrong. I've been doing over it in my head and looked at the wires but I keep drawing the same conclusion...ugh...any advice Phil?
2 ideas. 1. I dont know your specific amp but some 4 channels are made to be a "2 channel" amp and have a switch that shuts off certain inputs and outputs to change the way the power moves in the amp. 2. check ALL of your speaker connects every where you made a change. if something is ground out or anything like that it could cause the problems your speaking of
The signal draw is so big on the amp that it is causing the rear speakers to "dim in sound". Instead of the SNI-15s we could have gone with the SNI-35s which allows you to increase the signal to the rear speakers. Or we could have gone with the OEM-2 which adjust the signal for 4 channels and provides an amp turn-on wire. These new Lancers are all a new challenge in the audio business.
I'm in summer school now. 5 hrs a day 5 day a week. doesn't leave much time for me to work on the car. maybe this weekend. I just connected the front RCA's to the amp and disconnected the rear. Given all 4 speakers are running off of the front signal, it'll have to due for now. I'm thinking of getting rid of the amp and sub and changing them for something else, but that's later down the line.
