I have been stalling out at stops. When I drive my car it starts to act up and under ideal at stops.
Right now I am starting to think my ignition system is needing a upgrade.
The battery might be dead and the plugs are warn out. Does anyone have any advise for me??

Does it start up normal? And when you're moving, does it sound and feel like it used to?

it does start up... but sometimes it seems a little ruff.
As for driving... does not seem any diffrent. but sometimes when I get after it... it laggs a little!

It may not be the problem, but sometines the throw out bearing in the clutch kit will start to sieze up. Driving is fine, but when the clutch gets disengaged, the bad bearing will cause the rpms to drop. And I guess if its bad enough, it could cause stalling.

So I went and got my alt and batt... checked.
The alt is putting out around 15 vlt.
Could that cause the low rpm problem? I know it should be only putting out 12vlt.

if tis automatic It could be your torque converter stays locked up and it would act like a standard shift car would if you were coming to a stop without pushing in the clutch pedal.

Alternator is good if its putting out between 14 and 16 volts. When It lags, does it stop building RPM's..or do they go up and the car feels like it stops accelerating?

when I come to a stop the rpms drop.. first it goes up and down.
But after a few times it just drops to almost shutting off. and then it jumps back up to around 500 rpm.
right after that it just stalls out ...

I was told a Alt.. needs to put out 12 volts.
    guess they were wrong...
So I am stumped if my alt is good.
could my crank be off or even the cams... anything internal??

Ok... I have never check this on my car.. but could my timing be off on my car!??

Guess I am going to have to check everything.
Just because I am stumped... I have gone over everything and it all seems good!

Timing is a possibility. Have you ever changed the timing belt? It would have to be WAY off for it to do what you're describing. I actually had my timing set 3 degrees retard for performance...it never came close to dying on me. All it would do is drop to about 5oo, then go back up to 75o.

    Never changed my timing belt.
is there any way that when I change my drive belt that my crank pulley moved... and making this happen??

I don't think so..but over time, the timing belt will stretch, and can jump teeth on the cam gear. I change my timing belt at 40k and 60k. The manual and dealer says do it every 60k, but I like preventive maintenance.

**edit** I changed my belt at 40k and 80k...not 60.

I very much hope its not that... because I am awful with timing belts.
    just not strong with it.
And I dont take my care to shops to get work done... I do it all myself.

I hate doing them too. That is the only thing that I paid Mitsu to do for me. I just didn't want to fool with it.

    Good thinking.
I might have to take a look and see if it needs it.. and if so just have mitsu do the work.

ok... I drove my car for the first time in about two weeks.
It is still having problems. Would anyone think it could be the idel vaulve... on the throttle body!
I have never heard of anyone having a problem with it but just maybe.
Plus the car was smoking this morning.... I am worried that its a big problem!
Something I could not fix myself!

It can be many problems. Most likely Air/Fuel or spark. Check for vacuum leaks too. It can also be from a bad 02, MAF, IAC, MAP, TPS, and BISS screw. It is most likely not timing or else you will feel your car knocking as you accelerate. First check all your spark plugs, coils and wires. Second check fuel components. And last check for any leaks around the Intake Manifold, Throttle Body, Intake tube, MAF, and filter.

I am here just to say thanks again to everyone.
Last night I found the problem and have been working towards fixing it.
I have a bad o2 sensor on my header and also had a blown line.. that went from my intake manifold to my fuel rail.
got most of it fix and my lancer should be back on the road tomorrow!
