i read on here that some people are cutting at least one coil off there springs they got for there 08 lancer.does anyone know how to do this and how much 1 coil is on the spring. i have the rrm springs and i want to even out the fender gap a little bit,get the front down to having 2 fingers, maybe a little less like 1 3/4 fingers....can someone tell me how or have any pics of ther cars?? would it look like the car is level? or would the front take a dive in the front??
i did my and have no problems what's so ever, one coil is about .75 to 1 inch. remember is one coil from the bottom up,good luck bro...
what if you cut a coil of your stock springs wil that mess something up my friend was wanting to do it and i told em he might mess something up lol?
Im lookin to get the RRm GRIP springs which is 1.5" and 1.4" I want a more even look, i dont want it slammed in the front.. cause i want my headlights to stay even..
   Slammed in the front.??? evened look??? its a .1 of an inch differernce...I bet u money no one will be able to tell the difference let alone u
/\ same here, you wont tell the difference.i have them on my car and itll look NORMAL to the naked eye.youd have to tell people its lowered.its a big difference.its a even drop from the bottom of the car,not the fender wells.thats why we say 1 finger in the rear,3 fingers in the front, theres that extra room for the tires to turn.thats why i want to cut not even a coil off the front springs so itll be just 2 fingers instead of 3,thats like 1/2 inch..maybe.but it might drop the nose if that.
bump when i got my sprinngs installed, the V2s none of my friends could tell i lowered my lancer,i had to tell them it was.so by the naked eye you wont be able to tell at all.plus the rear looks lower than the front, thats why im gonna cut mine, its been WAY TOO COLD to do it now.
yea i know what you mean ive had my V2 springs for the last 3 weeks and the front hasnt really drop yet
/\ ive had mine for about 2 months now,and it still hasnt lowered so i guess that is where its gonna sit.cuz i just put my gts pieces on my lancer and i can see it even more that the rear is lower than the front.my g/f is even calling me out saying her mazda6 is stock and is still lower than my lancer, shes so shitty.
well i dont want the Tein S-Tech Lowering Springs, cause i think it points down to much!! I thought about the "works" 1.1" all around, but thats too expensive! so the GRIP springs, 1.5" and 1.4 will still give it the stock level, but it will be lower with better handling, im not trying to get it noticed for being lowered! i just more or less just want to fill the wheel well gap, for looks!
/\ yea thats what i wanted too...but i just want to get another 1/2 down on the front so i wont look at my car and notice the rear being lower than the front.thats about 1 finger.cuz i can fit 1 finger in the rear gap and 3 fingers right now on the front.i didnt want that nose dive either what the teins do.
Cutting the springs is something that you shouldn't do.. specially if they are your OEM ones.... it messes with your spring rate and it will make your shocks go faster.... thats when you see the cars in PR jumping like bunnies 3 months after they cut or heated their springs... i think the best bet for the people that want to really notice a drop would be the tein springs.... yes they are for the RA but thats pure bullsh!t 500 pounds is not really that big of a difference... think of when you have 5 people in the the car... the car works perfectly, and if they are 5 people like me, it will be WAY more that 500 pound rofl... thats what i am going to get soon.... IF anything, i would get and EXTRA set of stock springs and mess with those... it would suck to be you going to the dealership and they noticing that half assed "suspension setup" i just say, do it right or dont do it... if you really love your ride, dont chop of toes out of its feet
