I did some searching around, and found the sound system that I would like to go for. But I want to make sure that I am getting the right components. So here is a run down of my future sound system. Still haven't decided on speakers, so for now this is for sub & amp. SUBWOOFER: Will be running only 1...for now...maybe 12" Kicker CompVR 07CVR124 Dual 4-ohm voice coils injection-molded polypropylene cone ribbed Santoprene rubber surround suitable for marine use power handling: 50-400 watts RMS (200 watts per coil) 800 watts peak power handling frequency response: 25-500 Hz sensitivity: 86.7 dB top-mount depth: 6-1/4" sealed box volume: 1.0-4.6 cu. ft. ported box volume: 1.75-2.25 cu. ft. AMPLIFIER: Kenwood KAC-8104D mono subwoofer amplifier 300 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (500 watts x 1 at 2 ohms) CEA-2006 compliant variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz at 24 dB per octave) bass boost (0-18 dB at 40 Hz ) subsonic filter (15/25 Hz, 18 dB/octave ) Class D design speaker-level inputs with signal sensing turn-on preamp-level inputs and outputs fuse rating: 40A x 1 8-gauge power and ground leads recommended 11-1/16"W x 2-3/8"H x 9-7/8"D AMP INSTALL KIT: High-grade copper wire Wire termination hardware Includes 17' of 8 AWG power wire, 3' of 8 AWG ground wire, 50' of 16 AWG speaker wire, 20' of twisted pair RCA wire and 20' of remote wire Also includes AGU fuse and fuse holder Basically what I'm asking is if this is a decent set up. So many questions, Is the amplifier listed reliable or compatible for the kicker sub? Is the listed amplifier installation kit the right one? Open to suggestions, comments, and advice. Thanks!
You shouldn't have any problems. The only thing that I would be concerned with, and KRU will agree, is that you are under-powering the sub while maxing out you amp. Thats alot of stress on an amp. You can get a more powerful amp and tune it to the sub.
One of the people I was hoping to get feedback from.... Thanks. I will deff. look into a more powerful amp.
How many watts RMS would you suggest is powerful enough for the 1 sub? I found another one.... what you think? Kicker Amp mono subwoofer amplifier 375 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (750 watts x 1 at 2 ohms) variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz at 24 dB per octave) variable bass boost (0-18 dB at 40 Hz) subsonic filter (12 dB at 25 Hz) wired remote bass level control Class D design CEA-2006 compliant speaker-level inputs preamp outputs fuse rating: 40A x 2 4-gauge power and ground leads with 80-amp fuse recommended  wiring and hardware not included with amplifier 14-11/16"W x 2-5/16"H x 9-5/8"D sorry, I'm new to this... can use all the help. **Open to suggestions to the type of amp to get to power this 1 kicker sub.
Nevermind, I read too fast and didn't notice the 2 ohm ratings. Run your sub with a 2 ohm rating into the first amp and you will be fine.
congrats i am awaiting my kenwood amp that comes in by UPS today, i ordered it from crutchfield.com I did get the same amp as you i will run it on my 2 12" JL audio w1v2 subs
if you going to wire only one Dual voice coil 4 ohm subwoofer just follow this diagram. this is to wire with the kenwood amp! if you decide to get 2 dual voice coil 4 ohm subs follow this diagram using the kenwood amp i already wired my kenwood amp to my SVC jl audio woofers and they sound sick, i might need a bullet proof glass
Thanks Jake! appreciate the help. One question, On the speaker wire, it has 2 wires. Do I just use both to connect all the positives, and another speaker wire to connect all the negatives? Not sure if I explained that correctly. lol
