Rockford Fosgate sub is weak or is it just me?

So my 09 Lancer has the 650W RF system in it. Maybe its just my ride that has the issue. I love my low end bass and when the RF sub hits at the beginning of a song it sounds real good, but as the song progresses the bass just seems to drop off and just hit hard every once and a while. Could the factory amp be clipping or do you think something is wrong with my amp or sub? Anyone else having this issue?

i dont think i have that issue...mine just hits pretty good especially if im around quite neighborhoods the bass is such perfect annoyance...
maybe its your music or something in certain musics the bass drops really bad because of some interference...

It's very distorted and rattles like a mofo. What do you expect from a 150 watt rms sub or so in a chintzy plastic not airtight box. That's why I'm redoing my stereo. If you want a beast of a 10, go for an Fi Q. 1000+watts rms. mmm

the only issue i have is some distortion of sound and that my passanger side rear quarter panel vibrates so much that you can see it standing 10 feet from the car.

+1 that quarter panel gets to moving, I havent really noticed any distortion yet, nor do I think my bass drops off. *knock on wood* Im pretty happy with the system in general, wouldnt mind a little more punch, but its all good for now.

I have stated this 94365907134650347563475 times before. Rockford Fosgay is pure crap and not worth the extra $$$$ you paid for it.

I agree, the Rockford Fosgate system is not that good ! Alot of distortion in the sub, and yes it does not punch like it should.

I actually took the s&s package for the fast key / sunroof /leather... the sound system was just a bonus for me ! It does sound alot better thant the regular one so for me it's still a good choice !

Would it be possible just to change the sub/box without changing the amp to get better base ?

Yes, you can change the box.

And I got the GTS with the sunroof but without the RF system.

I don't mind my rockford sub, to me it sounds fine.
I can however say that I follow everyone that says they hear the rattling from the passenger rear panel, I noticed that the other day...Kind of gets annoying.

I am very happy with the S&S Package. The sub was just an extra, I really did it for the sunroof, and keyless entry.
If you are unhappy with the sub, why not swap it out with another 10"? or just get another amp and put another box in there. (sloppy, but if you REALLY need your car to rumble to your music, i guess you can do that).
