So here is the big question why get a RA over the X? i know the price of the insurance will be a big difference but what else? I think the X is the better choice if u are saving for the RA i am not bashing here just a thought why pay 23-27k hard earn money for a lower version of the X? why not just save up a little more like 6month to a year to get the X? I got a lancer because i am saving for the X lol so who else is saving for the X instead of the RA?

I am looking at the RA model. It fits into my finances better. I don't want to spend over $27.5k as I probably will try to haggle for a base RA that I can mod from there. I may not even get the RA if they make a 2.4L I4 NA version that floats around 175 HP for somewhere between $20k and $25k.

My biggest concerns when choosing a trim are:

    1) Insurance - I am 20, so we all know what that means
    2) Gas - mileage has to be reasonable as well as reg. octane. I can't afford Premium, especially when the prices spike for whatever reason
    3) I just want a little more oomph in the system. The current trims with the 152 HP I4 is better than my current 01' VW Jetta 115 HP I4, but because of the weight of the car and its driving habits, a little more oomph would definitely sell me on the vehicle.

This is purely a hypothetical, since I own a brand new '08 ES that I intend to keep for a long time, but I would definitely love to have AWD and 200 or so HP, especially if it meant that the car got decent gas mileage (Say, 19/27 under the new metric).

As impressive a car as the EVO is and doubtless the new X will be, I just can't see myself driving a car that gets 16 mpg in town and 22 highway, which, I suspect, are reasonable guesses at the fuel economy that the EVOX will bring to the table once it's released (again, under the new EPA metric).

IMO, cats that can usually afford getting a X can usually afford the gas and insurance.

True, but it's not just about the cost of gas for me. Considering that our boys are dying in the Middle East for oil, and add to that CO2 climate change, and I just couldn't bring myself to daily drive a gas guzzler like that... even though, I have to admit, I feel nothing but lust in my heart when I read about the X and see leaked pre-production pictures. Mmmmmmm.
