Ever since I got my new rims installed whenever I'm driving I get this bad vibration. It seems as if they are not balanced... So I went back and they checked it and they said that my tires were perfectly balanced... The guy said some thing about a Centric Hub ring... are you suppose to buy one of those whenever you get a set of after market rims? Or what could b the problem??
No I didn't get the alignment but I had them check it, and they said that won't cause the vibration, and no I didn't have spacers
Hub centric rings would be if you had spacers. But since you don't I don't know why it was referred to you. I strongly suggest you take your rims & tires to someone professional to have them removed and re-installed before you permanently damage something.
9 out of 10 times customers receive a vibration after installing wheels because hubrings were not installed with the aftermarket wheels. The hubbore on the aftermarket wheel is physically larger than the factory wheel or factory wheel hub so therefore there is "slack" between the aftermarket wheel and factory hub. The wheel NEEDS to be centered, you need to purchase and have hubrings installed.
are the tires brand new?? I know that i've got my rims and tires as a package(used with 1000 miles on them) and the front tires are choppy...it causes vibration. No need for a hubring. Basically, the tires are just "effed" up. So they will either do one of two things: A) even out, or B)cause uneven wear and end up being replaced sooner than typical. I don't know the case you have with yours but its a suggestion.
Any quality tire shop should be able to get them. The only major one that may be in your area is Discount Tire, but they should have that stuff in stock. And yes Hubrings is the same as Hub Centric Rings just shortening the term.
are you sure they balanced it right because to me it sounds like a balance problem. or you tire are worn out, but it still sounds like a balance problem.
almost positive its not a balancing problem cuz I took it back yesterday and they re-balanced them. Tires a literally 2 weeks old so yeah, I'm going to try the Hub ring and see how that works out
well, if the wheels have a 73mm center bore, and the stock size on the car is 68mm or something, that extra 5 mm could cause it to shake a little if the wheels werent tightened to the car perfectly.
