ok this is going to sound like a noob question and under normal circumstances it would be (im not going into why its not wayyy to long of a story) but I tried hooking up my aftermarket hu straight to my speakers tonight because my 4 channel amp went out. get everything hooked up like it normally would be turn it on and no sound. now to get alot of questions out of the way heres a short list

    1. yes the speaker are connected to stock speaker wires. I had my 4 channel ran up to behind the deck and connected to the metra harness to run the speakers.

    2. I know the deck works infact we actually tried a second deck to make sure it wasnt the decks problem. it works fine

    3. I have a gts with out the sun and sound package

thats all I can think of now. Please help me I have a very long road trip this weekend and need music!!

The only thing I can think of is to check if the wires in the harness are making good contact. if you know how to use a voltimeter then that should help you... if no... then the getto... LOL... a battery AA with 2 piece of wires attached to each side... the speaker should make a noise when you make contact from the wiring harness... but be carefull to know which cable you do that to.. since it can mess you computer if you mess with the wrong cables... this is very unsafe... but if Ideas run out and you know for sure your wirings... then... it should not be a problem.

u named ur problem =)... if u have the sun and sound package aftermaket HU won't work with it... u have to bypass ur stock amp (which is under ur seat) or something... umm... it was in a thread before, i'm not sure, it's only what i've read

no dude I said I DONT have the sun and sound package. Otherwise yes you would be quite correct. The weird thing is the deck works in other cars and the 4 channel is ran through the same wires the deck runs through so theres no real reason this shouldnt work

i said that too so we went and bought another JVC to plug into it, no sound, assumed it was the wiring harness and rewired, no sound, assumed it was the metra harness so by passed that and tapped the stock harness no sound, put the cd players in my friends car WORKS. so now we are at a loss. the only thing we can come up with is the GTS w/o s&s still has an amp and it uses voltage from the speaker leads to turn on and my 4 channel provided enough voltage to turn it on.

I have a GTS with out the S&S and an aftermarket HU. I don't have this problem, so it has to be something else.

and so it is. I got of work today and started playing. one of my speaker wires is grounding out somewhere in the circuit causing the amp to shut off. so for the weekend ill leave that one undone until I can find the short. thanks for your insight serious though. You made me think that this was much deeper then I though it was

Cool deal. Its usually something very small that pisses you off because you can't find it. Glad to hear that you located the problem.
