Hey, I'm new here, and I have a question.

I recently purchased my first car, a white 2004 Ralliart Lancer. I'm a huge car enthusiast but I'm limited by income and the woes of age. I'll be turning 18 in two weeks... So this first car of mine had some guidelines it needed to meet, set by the parents: Sedan, low mileage, and my least favorite...auto.

(I would have loved to pick up my friends 99 GSX for $8k at 75K miles. I still can't find another one for sale in Chicago...)

Anyway, I found the 04 Ralliart at 25K miles for $13k at a dealership and I love it. But being an enthusiast, I want more. So here's my question: Is it worth it to invest in "improving" the Ralliart or should I save to invest in something with a little bit more edge? I would drive this car for at least 5+ years, and while I love it, some extra performance would make it so much more than a ride to and from class...

Well you can definitely get an increase in speed and get that "enthusiast" feel with bolt on's which are usually where ppl who low income get there HP and TQ increase...Is it worth it? Yes if you love your car! Will it be a EVO or Close to one? Maybe if you had the income to get a Trans swap, AWD, Turbo(s), etc...But if you dont? Then the question again is...Do you love your car to the point you want to spend money on it!

    OH Welcome to LT! PICS!

Thanks! I'll get pics up as soon as I can, but the weather's been crappy out here so I need to clean up.

And yes, I love this car! I mean, sure, it's no Evo, but it has everything I want in an auto sedan. And this is also my first car that I purchased. I figure its a huge upgrade from the 98 corolla ls I was driving...

But I admit I'm new to this and I don't know where to start. Research, here I come.

hey man...good to have another 8gen on the forum. the R/A is a fun car to drive right out of the box...even if its an auto. but there are many parts out there for our cars. if you need advice or questions, feel free to PM me anytime. and if i can't answer your questions, someone on here will definitely be able to.

I will be the first to say go for it! Im 16 and i have a 04 RA with 37K 5 speed, and i love it! I have already started moding it, i have RRM catback exhaust, head and downpipe, Hi-flow cat, pulley, Injen CAI, and potenzas! I love my car to death and wouldn't let go of it. I know its still not as fast as evo or some other high prices sport cars, but it doesn't mean its not fast. Plus who else really has an RA, you dont see many. So agin go for it, it has potential. PM me if you have and RA Question!! Good luck!!
