im not sure of how it compares to other cars cause this is the first car ive owned... my dad's TL has 8 speakers so its tuff to compare with my 4. regardless the stock sound is crisp and clear, but i was debating on whether or not to just add an amp/sub combo just to give it an extra punch. is keeping factory HU and speakers while adding aftermarket amp and sub feasable? Is it worth it? if so is it easily installed? (audio noob)
The factory stereo is low, with the windows open on the highway i have to turn it up to the max just to hear anything. Personally, I think if you are going to add anything you should do all of it. Especially the head unit. That is where your sound originates so you want as pure a signal as possible. Not saying to go crazy with top end stuff but middle of the road pricing from reputable names I.E. pioner, kenwood, infinity, etc. You will be much happier with the end result. It jsut takes time and a bit of cash. Good luck
I will agree that changing the headunit for a decent sounding system is a must. It is the central brain and must produce a clear signal. Yes you can run an amp and sub off the factory stereo. You will have to wire in a high/low convertor. Check out our site sponsor section "Just for Looks"!!
k well moneys tight at the moment, what would ya'll suggest i do for about $250 to improve sound for now? ie. first stage; then when i get my hands on more dough down the road i can complete the system. or tuff it out, save it up, and get a decent system HU and all... how much would a whole system run me? keeping in mind i dont want insane impractical wattage
Yeah I drive around with my system on max all the time. Now on my moms SUV its another story. The thing is so loud your ears hurt after a bit lol. But yeah I am also planning on changing my system for something louder with a bigger bang.
Well you can check this link for an idea. Crutchfield is a bit over priced in my opinion, but it is a good place to start for a reference. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/ ... 1+-+%24250
Spend that $250 on a decent headunit. Not a Wal Mart Sony either. From there you can build off the deck. A nice sub and amp will run you about $300.
If you only have about 250 to spend right now get a new head unit then work from there like the others have said, otherwise you will be having to buy rca convertors and wasting money.
