Soo. I got an 02 Lancer ES. Ive know for a while for my throwout bearing was bad, and today on my drive home from work, it slipped 2nd pretty bad mid gear. After that, I came to a red light and it was idling reaaaally rough and it died. Turn it back on and it dies right away. Starts up perfect though. Anways, I had some friends tell me that a bad bearing wont cause the car to die right after start up in neutral. we opened the hood and noticed that it was making some weird ass arcing sound, and pin-pointed it to this sensor, which we have no idea what it is. ALSO, the car had been off for a couple hours, and the sensor was still HOT. like reaaally hot. this is it btw. its on the throttle body. so I could really use some advice, and hopefully someone can tell me what that sensor is. could it just be the sensor? just the bearing? a combo of both? help/advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys.
Well, I have had my car do the same thing on startup...but it was the connector for the MAF sensor. The MAF is on the intake, so its not that. I'm thinking it may be the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. Usually, they are on the intake manifold, next to the TB. I don't know a lot about the sensor locations for the 2.0...but maybe that's the prob.
