I'm buying my first brand new car within a week or so. I am going to buy a lancer ES. I have a couple questions for you guys. With the mods like the ecu piggyback,pulley, intake and exhaust what kind of HP does this thing put out? Mitsu site says its 152 stock. I used to own a 91 eagle talon tsi awd and before the mods it was 192 hp and the thing was quick. In comparison how quick is the 08 lancer since its NA and my car was a turbo? Does it get up and go pretty good? I will find this out at the test drive just wondering now though.
after driving a turbo, then getting a something naturally aspirated is like comparing apples and oranges. I have both a 2g and the 08. To me, I was surprised at how quick my 08 is and I have the 5 speed but it is no turbo. No real numbers yet but you can ask Jakegts, bcuz I think, he has all the mods minus the piggy. My suggestion is keep the talon or sell it to me .
dead talon well the talon died last year so i bought a daily driver ( a 90 eclipse 1.8 litre) which is slow as shit, handles good but is too slow for my liking. If you were surprised at how quick it picked up then then 08 is probably good enough for now. I miss my 1g talon that car was the shit. I'm kind of a die hard mitsubishi owner and refuse to buy anything else.
same here, I have had my share of mitsu. The mighty max was my first. What mods to your talon before it died?
fuel pump, injectors, intake, exhaust evo III 16g guy i bought it from had all the mods already on it but his engine was toast so i picked it up for 800 bucks and then took the engine out of my 90 plymouth laser RS turbo and put it in the awd talon. AWD 4tw
wow from a turbo laser!!!! that is very rare. right now, I am helping my homie put the 13b from a laser auto w/55k into his 98 420
Also, if you find that the GTS isn't up to the level you want based off your previous experience with the Talon, if you wait a few more months till the Spring to early Summer of 2008, there should be a Ralliart version of the new Lancer coming out that will have a base turbo putting out probably around 225 to 250 HP with a base AWD system. Also, by that time more mods will be able to push those number higher and higher . Bill
do you actually think that with the piggy, pulley, exhaust, adn intake it will actually get that much of a gain?? for the money spent i would hope so...but it seems like a lot of gain compared to my past experience? what do you think the gain would be on just the intake and exhaust??
well right now im just looking to get a nice car to drive around thats a little fun. Not really looking for a beast like the talon was. In a few years maybe my finances will allow me to purchase an evo which I have dreamed of owning for a couple of years now. This is my first brand new car purchase. I also had some questions about lancers. previous experience with mitsubishis tells me they leak oil. Are the lancer engines as prone to leaking oil as the 1st gen eclipse engines (4g63, 4g63T, and 4G37) not that its a big deal because mtisubishi makes some pretty rock solid engines, was just wondering.
185 hp with the current mods on the market..... I would be surprised if we got more then 15 hp with wat is out right now; piggy,pulley, exhaust,intake frankly I just cant wait for a turbo if they ever make one for the CVT, and if they don't....I'm trading this sucker in for a 5 speed
i will dyno my ride soon with all the mods i have on this lancer. i really dont know when, i am going to dragway on wednesday and i will get some 1/4mile times for you and i will see if i shed a second or two of the time. RRM is coming out with a turbo for a cvt, somehow i have a feeling they will come out for a 5sp sooner that a cvt. CVT should be good for about 6-10psi if that. and make about 40-50HP more. anything more than that would be suicide on a cvt.
^thats the word I heard from rrm as for being mated to the 5 speed . Imagine more parts coming out for the 08: down pipes, large core intercoolers, larger injectors, cams, engine mounts and much more. Damn those performance guys should hurry the f-up!!!!
There is no way you are getting anywhere near that. Whoever is wanting to know what the real gains are with their RRM parts go get a dyno and stop just assuming. When RRM was designing the intake for the 08 they were saying you would get 10 hp from it. Give me a freakin break. If you look at their past Lancers they got around 10 HP with a few mods and a piggy according to their dyno sheets. All of you guys thinking your car is getting major horsepower from these parts would be sadly mistaken if you ever took the time to truly find out. But then I guess ignorance is bliss. :roll:
Well i go to the dealer tomorrow to work something out. He said he will take my 90 eclipse 1.8 as a trade in i hope he lets me use it as the down payment so i can drive my new lancer home tomorrow
^They may but not offer alot. ask about the discount for owning a mitsu. I got an extra $500 for giving up my old '95 galant
they told me theyd give me 1000 discount for trading it in. I just have to get the insurnace and everything and hopefuly middle to end of next week I will be rolling in a 2008 lancer ES or GTS
Good luck, man...there is nothing like driving a brand new car with the new car smell, virgin miles and being an '08 not '07...mines had 4 (or 7, I forgot but I know its not more than 10)miles on it.
