I'm New I love the site it's very well laid out and neat real good job looking forward to all I can learn here I have no mods on my Lancer yet I have 5 kids so I need to do it slow any Idea's on the cheapest and easiest mods to start with would be great . Thanx Ken
Haha just look at my car for cheap mods ;D Depends on how cheap you're talking though. For me, cheap is $30 or below but some people consider things between $100 and $200 cheap. As far as starting out though: Front bumper blackout (search for Plasti-Dip thread) $6 Chrome trim (if you like) $5-$10 Led lights (city, map, dome, reverse, license plate) $10 each Side plate mount $40 Shorty antenna $15 That's all I can really come up with for appearance right now as far as cheap mods. If you want performance either K&N drop in filter or an SRI. Drop in is only $50 but the SRI is closer to $200 I think. Either way welcome to the forums and if you got a question, just let us know
You can also look into tint(windows or lights) and maybe painting the rims. 2k8 pretty much named everything else I had in mind lol
Wow that's not bad at all actually.. I might have to get mine did sometime soon then. White lancer + black tint = bad ass
to black out, just get some masking tape and newspaper, mask out everything around the bumber + chrome (if you wanna do the chrome part too..) and just spray away.. do a few light coats then one "heavy" coat. Thats what I did at least.. came out good. How to debadge..Heat them up for a couple minutes with a hair dryer, use dental floss to get behind badges and loosen them up, use goo-gone to remove left-over adhesive but wash it off well afterwards
You honestly don't even need the hairdryer. In fact I've heard that it can damage your paint. Just wait until a sunny day then use fishing line. Our cars are so new that the fishing line should cut right through the glue. You should be able to remove most of the solid stuff just with your hand but then use goo gone afterwards to get rid of any dirt that got stuck in the glue. As far as front blackout it's no problem. Tape it off, put a few coats on (plasti-dip is nearly impossible to mess up) then use a blade and go around where the tape and the paint meets. Peel the tape off slow cutting away any paint that sticks to the tape and you done If you're doing the chrome part you really should take it off, it's easier and makes it look better.
