I have read this posting on evolutionm.net about how to put the evo recaro seats in a lancer. The post goes on about the srs light coming on after installing the passenger seat. My question is, would the srs light come on if I only change the drivers seat? And if someone did change both of them, does the dealership really make a big deal about having to re-vin the ocm? Thanks, Gomeazy
I also wonder about this, also where i could buy a seat, and how much it would cost, installation procedures, etc.
Let's just say this. Installing them is easy considering they use the same rails as reg lancers. But they are fucking expensive to buy. Anywhere from 250-1500 PER seat
According to that thread, Evolution x seats bolt right in but you need to have the dealer ship reprogram the seats to your vin number. Apparently the computer in our cars will recognize the seats as a mismatched vin number there for resulting in a trip to the dealer. But all I want to know is if the drivers side will have that problem or not?
Has anyone successfully installed aftermarket racing seats that aren't from mitsubishi evo models? I would like to see what they look like and how difficult it was to install. Thanks, Gomeazy
I went to my Mitsu dealer a while back, asked the same question. They fit, just need to relearn the SRS. I would go along with it, but the EVOX RECARO seats are... *drum roll*... $6,000+ a seat. I asked why, parts manager said because they have the SRS airbags inside them/ RECARO being name brand, too. I said, "FORGETABOUTIT"! LMAO.
I don't know the actual differences in the SRS systems between the 04-06 and 08+, but when I had my sparcos in my RA, I just left the connections unplugged. If I had them connected, it threw an SRS light. I unplugged them and no lights. Not sure if this will work in the 08+, just because of the airbags in the bolsters.
I'm pretty sure if the connections for the SRS are tampered with, the whole system will not work. Example: unplug the system, new seats ect. Hmm.. buy the seats and have dealer install or go to a tuner shop for install and then go to dealer for the SRS reset. GL.
Funny, I was just going to ask about swpping the stock seats with aftermarket seats. I guess I'll just put the new seats in my Mitsu Mighty Max.
