Eibach Sportlines question

I spoke with a guy from a local shop who seemed pretty knowledgeable about the Eibach kits. He confirmed that just putting springs on will damage the struts and he didn't suggest it. He did suggest coilovers to help with ride quality and avoid damaging struts. He said that the Sportlines would replace my existing coils and would provide the same effect as a coilover kit. This didn't seem to make sense to me but he said it would work and I would not need a $2000 coil kit.

I'm a little confused. Can anyone help me understand what maybe he was trying to say or is he just off his rocker?

He's half right. Most springs are made to work with stock or stock replacement struts/shocks. On most cars, you won't see any shock/strut issues until you hit a drop of around 2 or more inches. Just be sure to check with the spring manufacturer if upgraded shocks/struts are necessary. He was probably just trying to get you to buy a set of expensive coilovers.....

sportlines are great springs and you do not need any struts for them or shocks.
maybe just a camber kit and a good alignment depending on how they settle

He was actually suggesting against an expensive set of coilovers and said that the Eibach sportlines would accomplish the same thing as a more expensive set of coils.

^ if you plan on tracking the car almost every week then i would say yes but unless uve got loads of cash to blow on the car then i would say good springs and camber kit cheaper and more ideal for a DD .

p.s if you have loads of money save it and upgrade to a new ride :D
