my check engine light came on about a week ago, hooked it up to a computer, and it says that my catalytic converter isnt heating up properly, i was wondering if anyone has every heard of this?

most likely you have an exaust leak somewhere before the catalytic converter or as wierd as it may be with NY being the way it is there may be ice stuck up in above or around it

Good idea, give it a few months, and see if it goes away. If not, maybe look into getting a high flow cat. :D

nice car wash with underbody blasting should do it good if its ice.

Or go give it some tender loving by rubbing oil and water and such and a nice massage might do the trick. Lol. :D

that may do a little more than just excite the car lol

unfortunately that is an emissions problem, you may have to replace it.

idk the way its been here in NY where me and timschoeliertm are at it hasnt been above freezing for a while and snow and ice you never know at least thats the "cheap" check and see if it helps thing ive been told by 2 mechanics already. but they agree if there isnt snow or ice on it than it is a leakage.

It's for the cat in the exhaust manifold. Have you already gone in for the recall?

What recall is that? I went in for one a when I first got the car, but it was for something really random. Like a switch somewhere or something. I don't remember.

If you're gonna do that, might as well get some headers and a high flow cat. But, that's just the modder in me. :D

I heard dat. It just seems that in most cases, aftermarket parts are cheaper than OEM replacements, ya know?

yeah, but our cars use two cats, if my secound one was bad id get a high flow one, but i dont think i can just get headers, i dont think my light would go off
