alright, i cant stand the factory brakes on our vehicles, i want to know if the evo brakes from any year would fit our cars, calipers mainly but if the assembly works ill take that as well. someone posted this on here and noone responded, but i do a lot of heavy breaking because i live in new orleans and playin around in the streets requires a lot of brake to gas vice versa efforts, i dont want to spend 2k plus on big break kits when the evo brakes would do the job more than i need, thanks ahead of time guys, ive appreciated the responses on here so far! Phil
well, i really wouldn't recommend evo calipers only. When you go to a larger caliper, you have to use larger diameter rotors as well. As for an evo setup, they would probably work with a few mods. I know the evo 8 setup will work with a base or R/A 7 gen with a few things like new caliper brackets, brake lines, etc. I think it can be done though...
Evo X setup WILL NOT work. You'd have to change axles and everything. Evo 9 has been discussed but nothing proven yet.
do the simple things first before you go balls out!!!! before you spend all that money on bigger brakes/calipers/rotors/ss lines/big name brake fluid...try something simple first. Get better brake pads and see how those work. I did that to mines and have been a happy camper since. The brake system is good enough for the car and remember its a lancer not an evo.
ahhh, very true! anybody kn ow any good brake rotoe that are slotted and dimpplled maybe, and some good pads, dont know who makes any good brake components thanks for the feedback guys, as alwys its much appreciated phil
/\ rotors-brembo,stoptech. brake pads-hawk, porterfield. I have porterfields on mines. check with the vendor list. i know rrm has a brake kit that are slotted. the dimpled you asked are called cross drilled.
i thought cross drilled was when the holes went all the way through? i may be wrong, thanks for the info though, as always its much appreciated
Yeah, CD go all the way through. I have drilled/slotted from R1, and I recently swapped to Hawk pads...my setup works great, considering I do track days at Barber's and Road Atlanta.
MY APOLOGIES...its crossed drilled when it goes through the rotor but yes it is called "dimpled" (i forgot what the real term is) bcuz it is roughly on there to let air help cool down the brakes, kinda like on a golf ball.
nice, now i heard crossdrilled isnt good for a street/track car because the crack easily, is that true?
I have heard that too, but I haven't had any issues with mine...and I'm hard on my brakes. I check them out every time i wash the car, and I haven't had any issues at all.
NHT has oem calipers that have been prepped and powdercoated. They have a warranty about color fading and chipping. I think they run about 400 bucks and come in quite a few colors...I think that's about it, unless you go with a big brake kit.
Well word on the street is that the evo brakes fitthe lancer, they have a guy with a set I know of for a grand, I think oma get em off his hands!
Well, there's only one way to find out if they will work. If you get them, it would make a good topic for a "how-to" write up...
