Brake Pads.. i have about 12000 mles on the car and it already needs new pads? Anyone else having to get new pads. Or just my crazy ass driving
U got manual or CVT? If u have manual u might be using the breaks too much and not downshifting???? besides alot of break dust I havnt seen too much wear on my pads yet
front or rear pads? I ask becuase I noticed my rears sticking alot lately. I use my e-brake everytime I park and they have been sticking becuase of it. Im going to bring my car into the dealer to have them adjust them early next week. It'd be good to know if others are experiencing this aswell.
A common thing people do is downshift to not put as much on the pads, but think about this: which do you want to go out first, your brakes or your clutch The more you use downshifting to brake, the more stress you put on the clutch and of course that stress is related to how hard your downshifting is (ie are you downshifting at 5k rpm or 2k rpm)
i have just about 15k mile on my car and my nrakes are fine. it might be how hard your pressing your brakes everytime you do break. like do you slow down then stop or do you suddenlly stop? it makes a difference. it also makes a difference in how hott it is, but since it is winter time this should not be affective. and it can also be if you drive in traffic alot and brakes wear out if faster if your stop-n-go all the time. but dude, there brakes. this is just all part of maitaining your car. i wouldnt worry about it, unless the rotors are getting messed up. other than that, your fine.
yea the rotors are fine. i know that the front pads do 2/3s of the work so i will just buy hawk performance pads thanks
Agree, it is part of the wear and tear of the vehicle. Also as everyone has said it could be just how you drive also.
don't worry bro, i got u beat. I got new brakes and pads at 1200 miles. The car was screeching like crazy n the dealer blamed it on me that i had a heavy foot cuz they couldn't find the prob., but it turned out that the brakes were glazed and they just didn't want to tell me that cuz they didn't want to fix it. I guess it was warranty work and they wouldn't make that much $ from it so it wasn't worth thir time.
