Can I hook up aftermarket amps, subs and components without replacing the dvd/navigation unti? If so, what do I need to do this besides the amp, subs, etc?

i hooked up two 12's and a aftermarket amp to my stock H/U and all i needed was a hi-low converter. it was like 30 bucks i think. i had a shop install mine and they said thats the only extra thing i needed to hook up to my stock H/U besides the actual amp subs and cables.

You can do that but will lose some controls and clarity. Bass tends to be real muddy. It is a cheap alternative. But if you are a true audio enthusiast, look at Audio Control. I prefer the LC6i or the LC6. I have seen them on eBay for around $100.
