Does anyone have an 18x8.5 setup with 235x40x18's? I've read that this may cause some rubbing in the rear but I'm curious to see if anyone has gone with this setup.

I went to my local Discount Tire today and they told me that the 235's would fit fine on an 8.5 wheel. I've read some posts about rolling the rear fenders but I wonder if it is even necessary if the wheels have a lower offset.

    thanks

KRU has 19x8.5 and lowered 2" and has no rubbing. You may want to pm him for a correct response.

That sounds like a sweet setup. I didn't know that we could go that tall and wide. I may have to reconsider my options. Thanks again for the lead bras!

I'm wanting to keep it stock height for now and want to go with an 8.5 wide setup in all four corners if possible. I guess that I may have to ask my wheel shop to give me a mock setup first to see if the tire will actually rub. I'm hoping the narrower 235 tire will keep it from rubbing along with the smaller offset of the wheel.

Okay, it's now time for a "Newbie question"? What's an evo x conversion?

    thanks again, dallasgts

Okay, I just did a search on the evo x conversion and found my answer. I definitely don't want to mod out the rear fenders like that.

I may get the rears rolled if I have to but that will be a last resort. Guess I will do a search for that to see what all is involved.

no conversion here and no rubbing. its all in the offset. Im running a 45mm offset.

I can fill every seat and no rubbing. Well maybe the body kit in and out of the drive ways. LMAO! Thats how I roll. If you cant drive it why build it. No trailer queen here. LOL!

Ummm... KRU doesnt have an evo X conversion which needs to adapt the wide rear fendors to the existing fendors and the front wide fendors.

He has the accolade GT concept front bumper and I think the rear as well as the GT fendors and hood.

Even with the wide fendors your wheel base wont support the wide wheels like a EVO would. However, you want 8.5 which is very close to my 18.8 tenzo wheels with 235/40/18 toyo tires and yes 235 will fit 8x5 almost as good as it fits my 18x8.

im running 18x8 on a 45 offset with 245/40r18 and i rubbed in the rear. if you get the right offset you should be fine with no rubbing with that tire size.

Yah, finding the wheels is a hard choice let alone ones that fit. I'll probably go to my wheel shop first and let them play with the offset to avoid rubbing issues.

I know that i want to go with 235's and a deep dish wheel. I'd really like to go with some 19's, just will cost more $$. Also not sure if that setup will affect the spedo reading?

Yeah youll definitely rub with 245 its a high tire, I dont think you will be able to go deep dish because when I tried to purchase it them the dealer said our cars need something that it didnt have, i think he meant offset or wider wheel base. That was the reason i didnt get a deep dish.

check to be sure before ordering.

i dont know why anyone would want a 245 tire size. They actually slow you down. If anything the largest size tire you should go is 235 but thats just me talkin. If you can get the offset right then 245's do look pretty hot on our cars.
