i'll tell you like this. when your radar detector goes off, it just means they got you. if you dont' get pulled over consider yourself lucky.

not necessarily, if the laser goes off, that means they got you, but you do not see much of that around here any ways. for radar though hell, some detectors can pick them up within a mile radius even if its not being shot directly at you. ive had my radar go off about a 1/2 mile b 4 i got to it even when it was being shot towards the opposite lanes of traffic on the thruway.

personally i don't speed to much all the time, im a reasonably good driver but i don't have my cruise control and i don't constantly check my speedometer some times causing me to do +10 of the speed limit and when the radar goes off it reminds me of my speed so i slow down.

and i would say cobra is a trusted brand, but there also known for false alarms at times... 8O just don't go with the cheap ones that are less than 50 bucks, i did and noticed it got very annoying at times and adventualy bought a better 1.

I'm rocking an Escort Passport 8500 x50, it's saved me more times than I can count.

Yeah, I had one of those cheap cobra units when I had my truck. It would randomly go off when I was downtown, but then we figured out what was setting it off....automatic doors. Damn supermarkets.

It all depends on how much you want to spend.
I have an arsenal of 3 items in my defense against speeding tickets.

A Beltronics STI-Driver - $500 unit, although it works I wouldn't suggest buying it. I get alot of "service required" errors and have to restart it alot.
This will catch radar miles away, it all depends on the area you are driving in (ex. straight, hills, curvy), for the most part it's paid for itself.
It is also the only unit that will work in states like Virgina that don't allow radar.

Blinder MX-45 extreme- $650, Although you don't have to get the most expensive one this is my laser jammer, it mounts in the grill and in the back for total protection against lasers, This item does work! It takes the laser signal that is sent out and copies the same signal and sends an error message to the laser gun. I've passed cops doing 80-90 on the freeway and haven't had any problems with this.

Cheeta GPS mirror- $400 This connects the two items together, all my radar/laser information is outputted through my rearview mirror, it also connects to the computer to update all the newest red light cameras but I don't worry about it much since I drive nowhere that actually has them.

You can buy kits that have the radar/laser jammer in one package, I wanted to piece mine out getting the best of the best seperatly and the Cheeta connects them all. It all depends on how much you wanna spend and what kind of protection you want. I tell everyone though that even if they get a cobra, or a cheap unit, it's still better then having nothing at all. Everybody speeds, to say that you don't is a lie, and sometimes it's nice to know where the pigs are even if you are obeying the law. Plus the way I figure they have their toys, why can't I have mine?

Why would you want to know where "the pigs" are if you're obeying the law ? If you were really obeying you wouldn't care. You seem a little paranoid with your "arsenal"...I think "the pigs" are the least of your worries on your farm.

Because their toys are legal.

lol plus at night when its the end of their quota. it tends to save ur ass driving at night... cops will dick around with you here even if ur doing like 2-3 mph over the limit some times. so its nice having that warning so when im approaching them to go the speed. and watch my self to the best of my extent and save my self from a ticket.

At the end of the quota the top cops get a toaster.
    If they're lucky a 4 toast toaster! :D

I think radar detectors are legal to since you can buy them at Wal-mart!
The FCC allows person to send and receive radar transmissions, they are only illegal in Virgina and D.C., all the other states are for commercial vehicles or you can't have one because it obstructs your view.

Either way, if you are speeding you are already breaking the law, hell what's one more ticket...lol.
Pay that shit, and keep on speeding!

So do you drive a commercial vehicle ? Still sounds illegal if you don't fall within those parameters..

I'm glad I don't live in your area!

I thought this cartoon was pretty funny...lol
