I have a 02 Lancer ES Auto. When I am at a stop with the car in drive, my idle drops kinda bogging out the engine. Its worse with the AC on. Where can I adjust it in the engine. Is it a simple turn with the screwdriver?
No. In order to adjust the idle you need to buy a tactrix 1.3u cable with software. But depending on the last tune up you have had you need to clean your throttle body. It tends to stick with old gunk deposits sticking to the control valve. Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
You can adjust it with a screwdriver, but I would not recommend it at all. Lancer throttle bodies have what is called a BISS (base idle set screw) that can be adjusted, but 99 percent of idle is ECU controlled. The only way to increase the idle speed is to use a tactrix and software...just like Jogen said. I agree on the dirty TB part....I had low idle and after removing and giving it a good cleaning, it idled fine. I would try that first.
I adjusted my idle manually, I can't remember exactly how, but it was something to do with the throttle body. It worked perfectly. It takes a little fine tuning, but once you get the feel for it, it's pretty easy.
I sprayed the throttle body with a TB cleaner an changed out the air filter, no change. It just needs that slight turn of the idle manually to bring it up to 1 on my rpm. Will adjusting it manually with a slight turn of the screw throw the ECU off? where is the screw at..cant find it on the TB? Thanks guys for the help
I did mine, and the only difference I noticed was with my idle. The first time I went too high with the idle and it jumped up to idling at around 2.5k. I was like lolno. So, I turned it down a little till I got it right above 1k. I can't remember exactly where it was. I'll try and take a look at it and see if I can remember.
