So I'm going to get a flowmaster super 44 series muffler and 3" downpipe put on my car. The guy I'm going to is a friend of my co-worker, and he said that I would need a new header as well. Is this something that I have to get at the same time or can it be done in 2 different appointments?

I tried a search for this but I didn't find anything but I might just be blind, so sorry if this is a repeat question.

When I put the new header on, will that replace the front manifold catalytic converter?

Unless you plan on goin turbo, 3" exhaust is too big for that motor. It will decrease the backpressure and cause horrible mileage. Biggest I would go is 2.5"...and that's pushing it.
