Ok guys I have a 03 lancer oz rally edition and I was working on the CAI and I hit the positive terminal. I got a quick spark and that's it. Now the car cranks over but doesn't fire. I checked the fuses and they're ok under the hood and under the driver compartment. I can smell fuel coming out of the exhaust so i know it's getting fuel but I'm guessing no spark, I haven't checked the spark yet, so any advice would help.

It's possible you shorted the battery. Try swapping it out and see if it works. Or if you have a charger try that.

It cranks fine. The starter is spinning the motor fine, but it won't fire up... Like its not getting spark. Do you think it might be an ecu problem?

Have you tried doing a complete reset of the ECU? disconnect both terminals for about 20 minutes, and then re-connect. The only thing that I know that would cause that is bad coil(s) or crank angle sensor.

I'm thinkin bad coil(s). Because like he said, the car wants to fire, but wont. So i'm thinkin only one or two cylinders and firing but not getting enough to crank hard. so see if you have a friend with good coils and swap em out and see if the cars fires up

You can pull a coil and pull the spark plug then stick the spark plug in the coil like normal but leave it set out on top of the valve cover, use a wire or vise grips to secure the threaded portion of the spark plug against some bare metal on the car or just the valve cover to ensure the plug is grounded, then try to start the car while looking at the bottom of the plug or have someone else look. Then will see for sure if there is spark or not. This will greatly help in isolating the problem.

I still say check the crank angle sensor. If its bad, the motor will turn over continuously and not start. Happened to my bro-in}aw's VR4...twice
