If you want something bluish, then I would get a 55 watt 10,000 Kelvin kit. 55 watt because they're quite a bit brighter than a 35 watt kit, and that high of Kelvin because 55 watt ballasts wash out the color that a normal 35 watt ballast would give off. You'll have to check on Sylvania's bulb replacement guide to find out your bulb size, because I don't know what year you drive, I know my 03 bulb is a 9007. You can get a 35 watt kit, but it wouldn't be as bright as a 55 watt kit. My 55 watt 5000K kit is really bright and really white. I like the white more than a blue hid because different colors just don't seem very smart to me. 1. you can get pulled over and get a ticket for having a colored light, 2. they're not as bright as a white light. I'd prefer something that's brighter and lights up more things at night, than something that's blue and doesn't produce more light.

I'm looking for something blue too. I've heard about 6-8k will have a small blue tint and anything after that is just straight up blue or purple. But like H_U_N_K_ said, the 55w will wash out color. If you've got an 08 or 09 your low bulbs will be 9006. You don't really need high beams with HID's lol.

^ +1 Good point. Forgot to mention don't get hi beams. Pointless, other than getting a brake tag. And, 2k8 ES, not really with what you said about the Kelvin. I've seen a lot of people with 35 watt 12K, and they were blue/white. It really depends who you buy them from, and how they're made. I know to get an actual purple color from true hids, with no color addition, you have to get up into the 20,000s. From what I've learned about them over the years. Like, I used to have 35 watt 6000K from 3bspec, and a friend of mine had 8000K from ebay, and his were whiter than mine. Mine seemed to be straight blue sitting next to his. I think it also depends on the car bulb size and such.

Yeah if I were you, I'd try and find pictures of someone with the DDM kit to help decide the color you want.

And thanks for the info HUNK

No problem guys. I always try to help people with hids. I know quite a bit about them, just from installing so many of the kits. So, whenever I see a thread like this I always try and get people to get a DDM kit, just because they're the best I've dealt with so far. And, I've had 3 different hid kits from 3 different companies. DDM is the best so far, that I've had experience with. Their kits are nice compact boxes, nice clean wiring, good product, and a lifetime guarantee. Or at least, when I bought mine they offered the lifetime.

i ordered hids also from ddm tuning. i got the 35 watt 5000K. rather have white than blue mainly because i dont want to get in trouble with the cops and such. i went on youtube and typed in ddm 5000K and they had a couple videos on there. that should help a little bit on deciding what specs on hids to get.

35 watt 5000K is a nice colour to go with

Why go with a 35 watt, when you can have a lot brighter and whiter light with a 55 watt ballast?

I had a 35 watt 5000K, and found the light was brighter than halogens, but I definitely like the 55 watt more. It's brighter, and whiter, so it looks more like an hid than the 35 watt.

there were no hints of blue in em, were they? i dont want mine to be too bright that it attracts cops here. i just want something in between stock halogen bulbs and our sun. lol jk. just something brighter than stock.

I haven't even gotten a second look with my 55 watters. And, I've had to have blinded a few cops, because they were coming towards me, and passing in front of me, and I have ridden behind them. And, 5000K usually won't have any blue in them. Mine are straight white, and light up signs like they should be lit up. I don't think you'd have a problem with the brightness of them, its usually just the colored ones the cops don't like.

I remember once, I accidentally left my headlights on, and then turned my car off. I had 35 watt 6000Ks. I turned my car on, not realizing it, then I got behind this truck and noticed only one of my headlights was on. So, I turned them off, and then back on, and they both came on. I don't know what your problem would be, though. What year do you have? Only thing I can think of that would do anything, is the new Lancers have DRL's, but that shouldn't affect anything. Let me get all your issues straight first:

    1. When you're moving, and try to turn your headlights on, they don't turn on?
    2. If you're parked, with your car on, and turn your headlights on, they don't turn on?
    3. If you turn the car off, take the keys out of the ignition, then start your car again, and turn your headlights on, they work?
