Lancer2quick's 2004 R/A..Update..03/12

Ok, here are some pics of my '04 RalliArt. I bought her new back in Feb. of 2004...with 7 miles on her. All work over the years has been done by my with the occasional extra set of hands. She has been through NUMEROUS changes over the years...some of which I don't have good pics of. As for all the vinyl changes...some were good, some were bad...I'll admit it. When you work at a vinyl shop, you tend to experiment a little.

For the mod list, I'm not going to list all that I have ever done...just what is installed on the car now. There's no sense in putting down the stuff i don't have anymore. Here we go:

i'm actually not feelin them too much either lately...prolly gonna draw somthin up and throw it on there. I usually change it up about every 6-8 months or so...i guess its that time

As a lot of you guys know, I'm usually the first to reply to a post about a lancer going into "limp mode." I have had my R/A for 5 years now, and I have taken very good care of her...oil change every month, plugs every 10k miles, cleaned my K&N filter system every month, all the usual stuff. I know that sounds kinda anal to a lot of you, but I love my sweetness of a car and take great care of her. Well, tonight it happened to me...the dreaded 3k redline and 30mph speed limiter. I had it towed to my awesome dealership (and that's not sarcasm...they freakin rock here) and since it was 8pm, it'll be monday before I gind out what exactly went wrong. So, in a nutshell, it dosent matter how well you take care of your ride...its gonna happen when it wants to. I'll update soon as I find out what stabbed my sweetie in the back. Thanks Flow. As for the 3k rpm, when the obd senses a problem with the engine or related sensor, it displays your check engine light and keeps running pretty much as normal. Then you can plug into your obd port and get the code that caused the light to come on, telling you what to fix. With "limp mode" or "safe mode," the obd senses a "catastrophic engine failure" and sets a rev limit to help prevent further damage, if the. Engine will still run.

i havent heard anything yet...it will be monday before they look at it. I get off work at 5AM monday morn...so im just gonna make the 50 mile trip then to see what killed her.

Ok...found the problem with my R/A. The acceleration sensor went bad on me. If no one knows what that is, its the sensor that connects to the throttle cable and sends the info to the throttle body. Basically, a throttle position sensor as I've always called it. Of course, its not part of the powertrain, so its gonna cost me 275 bucks for the sensor. My mitsu guy at the dealership told me that he's not going to charge me any labor, so that will save me about 100 bucks. But its still gonna be at least thursday afternoon before I get her back because they have to order the damn sensor. So there's the latest update...

well...another thing to fix. On the way home from work this morning, my radiator fan relay took a dump. So now, my fans run constantly when the engine is on. At least its a cheap fix that i can do myself...
