I was told that i could get a 14b turbo, which would give me a 5-8 psi, which would be more than enough for a stock engine. now, i am wondering if thats accurate. i mean, i was told my engine would handle it, but that at the same time i shouldn't be an artard and boost 24/7! i got an intercooler already, just wanting to find a used 14b turbo and bam. from what i've seen/read i can pick one up from a 96 eagle talon, but another question comes up, whats the difference between a 14b g1 turbo and a g2??? thanks and any ideas, comments or suggestions, throw me a line!! lates
rrm has a 16g kit for like 4g's thats tested for out motors, or you can piece it for cheaoer i think but then u run the risk of gettin not so quallity parts... our motors only can hold 7psi [ 8 is pushing it ]no more w/ stock internals, dont forget u need a tune too.. rrm has a drag 03 oz lancer that has its insides turned out lol and i bet it pushing more that 9psi , prolly 22 but becarefull dont put too much boost or the motor will blow... sever have done so w/o careing and motor went bye bye...
from what i know...and it may be wrong...but the turbos from 1g and 2g are not that different. i know that the actual manifold on the 2g is larger. the only turbo differences in the turbos that i have heard about is the 5spd has the 14b turbo and an auto trans has the 13g. i don't know if that is totally correct, but thats what i have heard through the years.
1g manual 14b 1g auto something smaller 2g t25, even smaller. 14b stock wastegate spring is set to 9psi, so idk how anyone gets 6-7psi unless its a externally gated unit..and Ive never seen one with that low of spring.
hmm, interesting, so from what i catch from this one is, a t25 is smaller, therefore safer for my car? i would do the necessary beefin' up for her, (camshaft, probably put a spacer gasket between the head block and lower block, injectors, etc) but where would i be able to find a t25, like from what car is it normally found? thanks everyone for the line, its very informative!
