can I just spray paint this with several coats?? i know its obviously really hot under the hood so do I use a special paint for that??
You'll want to clean it real well. Then scuff it up with a scotch brite so the paint will stick. Than find some high temp paint or have it powder coated.
KRYLON FUSION...no scuffing or priming, clean it well then spray it on due to lighting the color seems a bit off...but it turned out GREAT, it gets hot under our hoods but not hot enough for high temp paint, you dont need to do all that crap if you get the krylon fusion...good luck!!!
Yes but scuffing It up helps prevent the paint from peeling off. You can do without that step but when it starts to peel it will come off Almost in sheets. So for the 5 minutes it takes its worth the time
I just used normal paint. Didn't sand it, didn't do anything really. Just a few coats. Turned out great and has withstood the 100 degree summer no problem. But...feel free to do as much work as you want.

is krylon fusion a brand or what? whats it look like? and where can I get it??.. also, when I take the cover off, is it just those 2 small nuts in the center that hold it on? and what about that backl piece??

I scotch brite pad is similar to a brilo pad. It is used on locations where sandpaper is to rough and will take away the texture. It is just a step to give extra adhesion for the paint.
do you have to scuff up the silver trim on the front end in order to paint it black? my paint is already chipping off
What do you think is the best color for the cover that fits to my car? red, blue or green? My car is dark gray
Krylon Fusion is made for plastics, you can find this at any major auto parts stores. After over 10,000 miles in my engine cover and the spark plugs cover it's still looking like new! :drunken: :drunken:
