On sharkfinatenna.com, under the FAQ page it did say that recent buyers of the shark fin didn't have a problem fitting it over a Sirius/XM antenna.

is anyone having problems with the double sided tape caming unstuck? my shark fin is caming off in a little area about 1/4 in.

Yeah! I noticed about 1/4" of the rear portion lifting up off the roof too. Its only about 1mm, but you can still notice it. The fin is still secure so I hope it doesnt start getting unstuck anymore. I might have to order a new adhesive strip from them, and re-stick it.

the same thing happened to me.so i pulled it off.took a dremel to take off the old adhesive tape and got some new exterior tape from walmart and made my own.but when i did do this,i put two layers of tape on the fin,,then on the back of the fin i put a 3rd strip of tape that wrapped wround the corners a bit and it worked out great!it doesnt come up after 6 months of having it.

That doesnt make sense. :p The fin is coming lose from the back portion, and when you're driving forward, the wind is pushing down on it.

My personal feeling is that its come loose because the fin is flat, and the roof is curved. Also for us Canadian guys, the tall antenna base pushes up against the back of the fin too.

I got mine had this problem, so I emailed them and had them send me 2 of the 3m gaskets I put them togther to make a thicker gasket this works alot better no gap what so ever now, and yes like karen said the lancers anntena base hits the shark fin, I contacted the comapany and they are going to look into the design.

I have 2009 and just received my shark fin. I have not installed it yet as I need to prep the area when I have time to do it right. I have pulled the factory antenna and just laid the fin on the roof over the base to see how it looks and fits. There is nothing wrong with it fitting over the antenna base. The only problem I can see is the fact that its base is flat and the roof curves like Karan mentioned above. I had already noticed this before ordering my fin and I requested the extra gasket after placing my order. $6 extra as long as it shipped with the fin according to their sales dept.

I will let you know after I get it installed if I have any other issues.

^ u could of just used a heat gun and molded the bottem of the fin

I don't trust myself to not screw up the fin, since it is only about the thickness of the gasket, I will stick with the extra gasket method. I may even try to cut the back side of the gasket so that I am only doubling the back edge where the gap is.

    thanks for the option.

yea dont F%#k up the fin like that.all you will need to do is put an extra layer of gasket along the back side of the fin.trust me i did it,not the heat gun DUMB IDEA.

i tried the heat gun and it messed it up really bad. had to buy a new one. you can do the layers of double sided tape or do what i did and remove the outer shell of the antenna then put the fin on it worked perfect and theres no leaking.
