Alternator, starter? Problems

    Recently I took my battery out to level my head light beam then I put my battery back in and my car wouldn't start it can either be dead battery, bad alternator, or the starter are their any tests or would any one know which it could be?
    I also got a jump start and everythings been working fine.

    Where did you place your battery when you took it out the car?

    Hhhmmm, odd. You can take it to an autozone and they can test your battery for you. If its been fine since, it sounds as if it just lost its charge for some reason.

    Well I took the positive cord off last night to see if it was a one time thing and it of course it was not and had to get a jump when I started the car I heard a high pitch squeal and my rpm to 3500 for a couple of seconds and then went to idle
