Figured better late than never start with a build thread on this site. I've already got some ideas as to what exactly I want to do with this car, and I'm going to rely on mostly show, and some go on this one. Performance: Underdrive pulley (prob RRM), BBTB (if they have one for the 4B11) Cooling: Mishimoto radiator (mostly for the name, partially for the cooling) OBX rad hoses (they make some really decent stuff and it's affordable) Breather Mods: Decent intake with bypass valve, RRM headers or similar (price is important), axleback exhaust Greddy SE or the Tsudo N1? Stoppers: Drilled/slotted rotors with SS brake lines. Agency Power or Stoptech lines. Work wheels Steez collection 18x8.5 and Yokohama Advan 205/40/18. Stiff stuff: Megan Street Profile coilovers or Tein Basics (pricewise it's the same) Aesthetics: CF A-pillar (in the mail) CF rad cover (in the mail) CF engine cover Currently the car is off to a good start with a CF hood, rims and tires, and reupholstered interior. Tinted headlights and taill lights, and airbrushed exterior. I'd love to hear other people's opinions on what they recommend product wise, where to get it, and what are the benefits/cons of stuff. No wrong answers. I'd like as much input as possible. Update: Peeled off the tint off the foggies. Attempting to do the DRL mod tonight, however all I ended up doing was throwing a CEL. I pulled the wrong relay. And it doesn't help that NOTHING under the hood is labeled courtesy of the previous ower tossing away the fuse box cover. I got a CF replacement, however now I'm clueless as to what is what.
You the man! Thank you! Now I can finally do that DRL mod. Also gotta stop procrastinating and do that reverse camera. Additionally thanks to Redline I got my CF rad cover and gauge pillar. I was under the impression it was an A-pillar gauge....then I realized that hole in side was for my hazard lights....oooops well now I just got to get some gauges installed and we'll go from there. I've got a water and oil temp gauge already waiting to go. I'll prob do a vaccuum or voltmeter as well. The only issue is figuring out how to wire them up. I'm not familiar with that part, so probably T-stat method and drill out a hole for the water temp and then maybe use a sandwich adaptor for oil filter? This way I can get a clean look without too much work. Now then.
This is why I can't have nice things That bastard took out my mirror! AGAIN! Fricken bumper got knocked off the tracks Paintjob is all chipped, there goes my expensive airbrushing I'm going to drive around hoodless for now, till I can get the car repaired. FML
Thanks guys. My baby is in the shop getting new parts all around. I'll have to retint the headlights myself although I'll probably keep the new OEM ones just to play with and then use tinted ones are practice. I'm also ordering some new HIDs because the previous owner did a number on the wiring there. All things the considered, my $18K car is getting $4,500 worth of new parts and I'll probably see only $400-$500 back from the shop after they're done. That money will probably go towards something nice, like a new set of rims, or I could always refurbish the Work wheels I've got one the car. We shall see.
UPDATE 8/1/2011: Took 3rd place at the Envy Frenzy car show in Kingston, NY. Unfortunately there were only 4 other Mitsubishis there. Two eclipses post 1999 and then one pre-99. Either way I was happy I placed, and took one home for Lancer Tuners. I know JDMHammer is happy. Currently working on getting the car dropped on some coils. However springs might be good too if I can find a decent set. Going to stick to my sponsor (UltraRacing USA) for stiff stuff like the sway bars, and K braces in order to tighten everything up. Under the hood, might be left as minimalistic as possible, with a CF engine cover and spark plug cover and perhaps a custom radiator cover out of polished aluminum. I'm also working into making myself a cover for the power steering, simply to cover the engine bay up a bit. Also, looked into some sheet metal, perhaps some mirrors are in store, can you say chrome plating? With regards to the Work Wheels, unfortunately they are in really rough shape, however I will try to do my best at salvaging them. I'd love to get some wider wheels though, so a 18x9 would be great and stretch some Federals on that. Perhaps the XXR wheels would look good. Also, on a side note, if anyone has coilovers they want to sell, please keep me in mind, Tein Basics I heard are one of the best for the money, perhaps that should be my first investment?
Going for the hella flush look, so yeah it'd be important to get that drop on just right. I figured Megan Coilovers....32 way adjustable.
yeah that would but make sure to get some camber arms if ur going hella flush. and be ready to buy some tires
He wont need the camber. Its built on to the megans. So that's always a plus. I need my front fenders rolled to fit my wide tires. Mine scrap when I hit major bumps. But its not biggie though. I only hit 2 bumps like that on a daily basis. He also may not need new tires. It all depends on how he sets it up. Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
My tires have suffered and I'm not even on coilovers. I might invest in some camber plates Sent from the Sickest Thunderbolt EVER
hella flush stance will mean he will be riding on about 20% of the tire only which means that he will be replacing tires about every 10k -20k miles
I already replace my tires every 15K miles from excessive wear and tear. I do a lot of highway miles which is why I get that kind of tread life. Well that and paired with improperly aligned wheels which I am yet to fix. Either way we shall see.
