I'm currently in the process of making a automatic hide away license plate. Most automatic ones sell for about $160+ and are ran buy a remote. I'm thinking it would be better if we used one of those blank switches for once. Would anyone else be interested in one. I think it would be something different besides the "evo" license plate thats offset to the right or left. Here's a video of what its going to do: I will post my own video once I get it created. It should be done by the weekend.
id be interested, of course depending on price. but I would bet that it wouldn't be too much harder to set it up so that it hide/unhide dependent on key position with a switch over-ride. like you turn your car on, it unhides. shut the car off, it hides. then have the switch for manual over-ride.
Lmao I can only imagine you going down the highway with it hidden and seeing a cop then franticly trying to put it up and it ripping off the front of your car I like it and it's a cool concept.. but it's not for me Were you planning on cutting out the grille so it will slide under the middle peice or are you going to mount it the same way that guy has at the very bottom of the bumper? P.S. I think the youtube link only works if it's not a related video [youtube:2i45fiyr]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1zIGPyJunI[/youtube:2i45fiyr]
gonna ahve to go under the bumper, if u want ti to look nice u cant the middle of the grille, and to keep it seemless u have to cut the top of the grille bu then ur place is be as high as the fornt emblem, = Fail I just went to look outside it wouldnt be hard on our cars plus if u want it offset like the evo it would be even easier, i seen how it was hooked up on cobalt from utube and compared to our cars
its like your trying to evade from the cops. with this and i think you were the one about the drl to turn off lights while driving =p
Haha I just watched the video. I go to that shop all the time since i live right by them. I have seen these in real life and they're pretty sweet. since i just blacked out my front and i know the cops will give me trouble about not having a front plate im thinking about buying one of them. If y'all want, I can go talk to them about doing a group buy on them.
I actually bought the plate from them but didn't like the service I got. It took them 4 weeks the ship the plate and everytime I called and spoke to them they said they were not sure why my order did not have a tracking number on it. I'm going to look into everything this weekend but I'm thinking about cutting the bottom grill at the top of it and having the plate either open down over the bottom grill or up where it use to be. I was leaning more towards down because then i'd be able to attach the piece of grill that I cut off to a hinge. This way when the plate is inside the bumper it looks like a normal, complete grill and when its out, the grill peice will either be behind the plate or hangin below. I mean you could always just attach it to the bottom of the bumper, but I wouldn't suggest it for those who lowered there cars.
i would drive with the plate hidden all the time, then when the cop pulls me over for no plate I would flip it up and ask him or her if they are high lol
ahah yeah, i think the car looks soo much better w/o it but dumb NY law states you have to have it...eoo this is a nice little work around.
Doesn't sound their usual business cuz i get a lot of my stuff through them. They're actually under new management now
hmmm, i live in louisiana, we dont have to have one in the front, but im curious as to how i could do this in the rear... seeing as how our spirited driving on the interstate attracts attention
