is CVT any good?i know CVT run smoother than the standard automatic transmission, but it makes more noise

CVT or standard automatic which 1 is better/faster?

CVT has no gears...i personally like it...i think CVT is faster cause there is no shifting lag...IMO though...

I hate how loud it get's when you step on the gas in D! It's ridiculous with my muffler, so I drive in sport mode %95 of the time but I REALLY REALLY see a difference in fuel consumption between the two!

ya i hate the nosie that it makes too, but it does help a lot in MPG when driving in D.

and good video find, sucks that we have to replace the whole thing if it breaks...

    Hey Prophet...

I made a post a while ago that had a long paragraph explaining the difference between the standard stick manual, an automatic, and the CVT, but I can not find it now. I was going to re-post it here or at least link it to help the new guys, but I can't find it. Did it get deleted?

No, i am comparing Automatic and CVT, not Manual, dont be offtopic plz

AFTERALL i just realized that the 6 speed -/+ paddleshift IS NOT FUN AT ALL, standard automatic with tiptronic is much more better

i've discussed this on evom.net , we use CVT to downshifting , it feels like a crap, it is a pain~ (just like you gives it a sudden brake that feeling) and no matter my lancer at 2nd, 3rd,4th shift, they just feel like the same

the CVT 6 steps -/+ like a plain 1krpm-7krpm but it spilt up into "6 steps"

CVT owners would udnerstand what i am talkin about, sorry i cant explain briefly cuz of my limited english HA HA

Why does the paddle shift suck so much gas?

I need to start driving in automatic!!

The CVT is awesome. For us guys with the GTS CVT the gears as you are in paddle shift mode are pre set and shifted electronicly

I would have to disagree with that statement.

95% of all the cars I have driven with a traditional automatic transmission with shifting capabillities have been horrible.

The tiptronic is usually found in high-end cars, such as porshes and such, the vast majority of vehicles on the road now have a "shift-tronic", or some other rip-off, automatic that tries to mimic a tiptronic, but almost always falls short.

These types of shifting automatics usually have a large pause between shifts, and when it does shift it usually "bangs" into the gear, cuaseing a harsh jerk in the vehicle.

Our CVT lancers on the other hand, shift instantaniuosly and very smoothly.

For a car at our price point, I think it would be hard to find a non-CVT vehicle that shifts better.

The CVT is too loud for my taste. I've got a CVT ES, and the loudness of the CVT is the only thing that bugs me. If I had it to do all over again I think I'd go with a manual.

im just waiting for the ralli-art so i can get my SST. Will probably drive it in manual mode most of the time except in heavy trafic just chuck it over into auto mode and relax :D
