ok...never mind i said that... how come u didnt get the new gts and give us some details on the new 4b12 engine
Things to do to the car to make it rally ready: Dont expect the car to also be a daily driver. Find someone who will co-drive with you Read all of this: http://www.rally-america.com/rules.php Get a rollcage that is FIA/RA approved: Get a Hans device. Remove your airbag. Read all of this: http://www.rally-america.com/rules.php Upgrade all parts related to saftey (some are required in rules): Helmet Brakes Seats Harnesses Rollcage tow hooks with proper markings Fire extinguishers Gas tank racing suits etc etc. Read all of this: http://www.rally-america.com/rules.php There is more to do. Read the rules. Buy the electronic equipment list: too much to list....ugh. Easiest way to get started in rallying is to WORK AT EVERY EVENT YOU CAN. Meet people, learn how things are as a worker. Rallying is 100 times easier when you know what event staff expect of you. Find a way to be a navigator. Being a navigator is good times and its the next step. Make more friends, meet more people. Go to rally school. The best one in the states is this one: http://www.teamoneil.com/ Take the 4 day rally school. Then go back and take the 6 day rally school. Then practice on your own in the conditions you will normally be in. Start to rally. Ok now that I have smashed your dreams of doing real rally racing....here is what you CAN do: What you need to do to rallycross your car: Buy a snell rated helmet. I buy my stuff here: http://www.werks2.com/ Show up at a rallycross in your area, run in stock class. Learn how to drive in the dirt. Dont waste money on modifications, just use the money for gas and entry fees and to initially buy a helmet if you dont have one. Your region: http://www.texasscca.org/rallyx.html The car can go offroad when you get it, just because its FWD doesnt mean that the second it touches dirt it flips over and bursts into flames. HP wont matter either in the stock class. Just learn how to control the car on dirt. If you read all of this and just start asking about parts to upgrade, then you arent serious about it, which is fine, but dont waste time asking about this. Just say you want to buy parts for your car.
+1 at first, I thought I needed this performance part and those things here but the first thing to do is actually go out and learn. Know how to take the apex of a curve, when to accel, how to approach and things like that. The ones I have done are autocross and are a blast to do. I plan to do more but prices in California for gas is kicking my ass now.
i wana raly so bad but in alberta you have to have a role cage...and you can only raly for like 3 months outa the year...so maybe when i turn 22 ill go buy a beater ralliart and have some fun..dreams on pause, grr
he won't have details about the 4b12, the ES has the old 4b11 engine... only the GTS has the 4b12 ... blah i'm still looking around like crazy for info, but nobody seems to have it yet -_-
Um.. buy a subaru? thats probably my best suggestion so far.. you cant really rally with FWD ... lol EVEN THOUGH we do have excellent handeling...
