I'm Looking At Changing This When I Get My Exhaust.I Know They Test Pipe Isn't Sreet Legal But I'm Not Too Worried Bout That.Would The Test Pipe Be Better For Performance Than A High Flow Cat?
I forget where I saw it, but a company that makes a hi-flow cat tested this out on the same car with the same mods. They just replaced the stock cat with a hf cat, then with a test pipe, and dyno'd it. the test pipe beat the hi-flow cat out by one horsepower. I am also looking at getting a test pipe, but I cannot find anyone to put one in down here. Sigh.
I don't think so. But that's your opinion. A friend of mine has a 240 3" pipe from downpipe back. sounds so good. And loud. That's what I like. I love the loudness of exhausts.
^LOL. anyways, the testpipe does have a bigger increase in power than a high flot cat does. it also makes your car louder. aaaand for the guy who cant find a place to get it installed, its pretty easy. theres a thread on evolutionm.net which does a great job. for like 80 bucks or whatever it is, its a great mod. just keep a legal cat lying around somewhere just in case, and hope you dont get more exhaust tickets haha.
Also, the hf cat DOES make your car louder, but just not as loud as a straight pipe would. And even if I do get either of these (looking at buying a Talon TSi, so I may stop modification to the Lance to a certain extent) I would probably getting the hf. OBX has one on ebay for $45. And it's bolt-on, and it's legal. A lot of muffler shops like to cut the cat out fully, and just put a pipe over header and exhaust and clamp it...... But, it's whatever you want to do.
