a heat gun wouldnt work on the tails cause the glue is different than the head lights. i think someone said its like superglue. someone tried baking them and they were almost destroyed

yeah that was vik but he tried it once at a low temp with no avail and then he like doubled the temperature, maybe if someone tried more gradually

no, it's just that the glue apparently doesn't undue itself until higher temps then the headlights, which is y i suggested the heat gun, since it'll isolate the heat to one area and not the whole taillight, since it was the back part of the taillight that started melting when someone tried this...

how about the first suggestion? in my first post about the Mineral Turpentine? i say someone should try it :p

everyone has their idea...i am definitely sticking with mine...i know i messed up before, but is all about trial and error...like they say, "try & try untill you suceed...

so if you have an idea...dont be afraid to try em out...

i think the heat gun will work.our cars are new and the glue is at its peak.ive baked tails on my old 95 mirage for about 10 minutes at 350 and got got them apart.maybe cause of age??we need a tester

i work at a hospital so bear with me. what if you could draw the mineral terpintine up in a syringe. then lay a bead down directly on the contact area of the glue, this way there wouldnt be any soaking of the whole housing. and gravity would help.

i think thats what they guy meant by "soaking", to soak the edges, kind of in the manner ur talking about...

yes the principal is still the same its just direct placement in place of "soaking". i guess its a modified vesion

ok, glad I saw this thread.

Guys, I took a 5 second peak at the taillights and I recognized them as plastic welding which means you have to CUT thru!!

They are not silicone such as headlights or older gen taillights.

I will verify again today but it looked like traditional plastic welding.
