I just installed my takeda sri, and i keep getting CELs, and the car is running very lean. Does anyone know how to fix this problem
thats strange i would try and disconnect the negative cord of the battery for like 10 - 15 min. make sure the mass flow air sensor is on tight and their is no air leaks. then reconnect the battery start and let run till it smooths out also make sure the arrow is point in the correct direction. i would try that before you take it to the shop. but maybe this intake needs a tune not sure. good luck bud.
when the check light is off the car seems to run fine, once it kicks on, the car tends to be a little sluggish, getting up to speed can be a chore, and i checked my mpgs, they are about 5 mpg or so lower than normal on the highway, city driving is horrible,
The only reason I could think you are running lean is that you didn't let the ecu learn properly. The battery should not be connected during install. Leave it unplugged for 30 mins. Connect the battery and turn your car on and let it idle for 30 mins outside in the open. Turn your car off and then back on. Drive for about 100 miles and don't rev it passed 3.5 rpms (meaning drive normal and not pulling hard or racing it around corners or anything). Drive normal for about a week or until you get 500 miles. After that you should be able to drive how you want without pulling any nasty codes. And is the takeda sri the only mod you have on your car? Plus check your fuses. I check all mine after I unplug my battery for any reason. Basically what Beav said earlier I just went more in depth with it. Remember, do not let your car rev passed 3.5 for about 250 miles. I did 500 miles just because I didn't really care at the time and wasn't running late for work.
i had the battery unhooked during the whole install. i cleared the existing code, gonna take ur advice and try this. i have an axle back exhaust as well.
Disconnecting the battery is NOT going to do anything towards richening up your car. You could get a tune, you could get a wideband to monitor a/f ratio, or you could do the simple thing... get a new intake. I am 99% sure that the takeda is the same as fujita whom never got their CELs straight. BTW, this situation has been encountered by RRM's, K&N's, Fujita's, and Takeda's intake. A dyno tune will give you the most out of your car with the mods you have matched to it, however, #1 you must have a local tuner who can flash the Lancer (there are many out there depending where you are located), and #2 you must have anywhere from $500 - $700 for the tune. It is worth the $$$ though. You could expect some very nice gains.
