ok... here is how to ... but i have an es... Tools 1.- Flat head 2.- a piece of cloth 3.- a philips screw driver directions... 1.- use the the flat head and the piece of cloth to pull the silver panel from the driver side... you might need to use a little force... 2.- there you will find 3 or 2 screws philips under the hazardeous buttom... remove them so you can take the fron radio panel off... You might need to apply a litlle force to remove it... (BUT DO NOT PULL TOO FAST IT HASS A WIRED CONNECTED TO THE BRAIND OF THE RADIO>>>) 3.- Once you get the the ugly looking part (the metal square case on ES model) you will find 4 phillips holding it... thats it... I will try to post some pics for this process.... as DIY project...
One more thing I forgot to mention... before removing the silver panel... open the passanger door.. and at the end of the panel you will find another phillips holding it...
i am/audio shop is installing a dvd 7 inch touch screen into my base gts. I did order the navigation unit installation kit from mitsubishi which ran me 349.00 which its al lot, but i want the most oem look possible. i will keep you guys updated as soon as i do it. I will be doing all this on tuesday morning...
$349.00 ???? thats abusing ... I thing they did everything calculating all the money ppl would invest on parts.... I dont know if you guyz noticed it but every single thing on our models are mostly snap on... easy to replace and it can be "upgraded"...
I agree so many parts are easy to upgrade but its still is so over priced I wanted to ge a new audio system. I wanted a clean sweep where they will use the existing dash and replace the system. BUT because i had such a new car the 400 dollar jod doubled in price. I didnt get it done. But i think iLl have to do something the stereo bites in the DE the radio blows I listen to the new in the morning going to work and the volume is always cutting in and out well it goes up and down due to signal loss i guess. But i am still waiting to see if i sail.
Hey guys I have over 21 years of car audio and video custom fabrication and the most cost effective way to get an aftermarket nav/dvd/receiver in, is to buy the oem piece from Mitsubishi. I know it may seem steep but you get what you pay for when it comes to custom.
KRU so maybe you can answer my question. Why is there so much signal loss in the standard radio? It drives me nuts I like listening to theradio first thing in the Morning. We dont have huge moutains or skyscrapers to mis direct the signal. I Just find it irritating. The guys at Mitsu service told me the radio was too sensitive? Over sweeping to aquire the lost signal. But it really isnt making sense because dont signals just cover area zones? like cell phone towers. I dont know it is just frustrating lol. Thanks for any info.
If I'm not wrong, the radio have some sort of adaptive vol where it adjust the volume according to the speed you drive. Check the manual out, you can actually switch it off.
Is that with all models?? I only have a DE for now I'll check that out but it dont act in the same way as the adaptive radio volume works. It literally just drops off in volume drmatically you actually have to turn it back up. WHich suck because when it kicks back in you have to turn it down. I just find it very strange i took it in but got the whole advanced radio over sweeping to aquire the lost signal. I'll just check it out more.
I took out my whole cd player and It was kinda easy to do as well. 1. Open the glove box on the passengers side (the box in front of the seat) 2. On the right hand side inside the box you should see a screw. Unscrew that and take off that side molding thing 3. Now once you get rid of that youll see 2 screw for the silver area. Unscrew that and just pull on it and it should pop out. 4. Continue poping it out untill you get the whole thing out. 5. Now you would have to unscrew the emergency lights signal thingy 6. Once you have them out of the picture just pull on the head unit and it should pop out. GOOD LUCK
Well , I could be wrong too, does the sound goes soft on you while on CD? If it does as with the radio, maybe you can than try to switch off the adaptive volume.
Nope i Have no problem with volume on the CD while playing. Of the topic i started the car first thing this morning and didnt notice at first but the driving lights didnt come on. I then turned the low beam on and they worked. I then shut it off and restarted and they worked? You think it had to warm up. Ihave switched to Eurolite super plasma but they work now. Strange huh.
