Information that I obtained from the internet was

    1) Turn off the car and unplug your battery. Plug it back in and start it back again and try to open/close it.

    or

    2) Using isopropyl alcohol clean the rails where a buildup of sediment and corrosion can occur.

if none of that works, take it to the dealer. Or I'm pretty sure some one here knows something about it.

if im not mistaking, there should be a screw thing under a panel or something that you can screw the moonroof shut or open it. i think its some kind of back up just in case the motor stops working. i know alot of older cars had this, but not sure if ours does and i have checked it out since my car is in the shop. but look in the manual or something about this.

i figured it out i read the manual the sunroof was in some kind of saftey mode . i had to press the button a series of ways to get out of that mode but it worked so if anyone has this problem refer to the manual.

Any car with a sunroof/moonroof will generally have an emergency closing procedure to it. I know that with my sunroof in my 01 Jetta, a plate pops off next to where my overhead light is and reveals a small wrench (looks like the one "X" ones people can use on their tires to replace a flat) and you use that to screw the roof closed.

Glad to hear it was just a glitch. The real question is how you got it into safety mode in the first place??
