Since I've had my Lancer there has been one problem that's really been bugging me. Every once and a while it'll turn over but it just won't start. I'll try it again and it works fine. It's nothing serious but it's a brand new car and it's already not starting so that's no good. Anybody else having this problem?

I've had that problem for a while now. I've somewhat kept track of when it does it..and it seems to do it after a long spat of "spirited" driving. It dosent happen after every hard drive, just periodically. When it dosent start, I let it sit for a few seconds and it fires right up.

Hmm that's strange. Mine usually only does it after it's been sitting over night. Like I said, I'm not too worried about it but it sure is a little strange lol.

Mine does the same thing...so you're not alone!! Do you have the FAST key? If you do, do you keep your cellphone near it? I hear cell phones make them not work but I dunno... Mine will roll over for like 5 seconds...I'll stop....try again and it starts fine. *shrugs* dealership tells me there's nothing wrong with my car LOL

mine only did it when it was new is hasnt happened in over a year, i always had less then quarter tank of gas when it happened but i dont think it has anytihng to do with that.

I don't think low fuel would keep it from starting. Unless you had a bad fuel pump. But I doubt it because it's a new car and it's working now lol.

And I don't have the fast key... I don't think. Just the normal Lock, Unlock, and Trunk open buttons on the key. To be honest I didn't even know you could get a keyless entry :p

Ooh you didn't? Mine's keyless entry and keyless start (you just turn the button thinger lol).

Mine's had a full tank and still not started.

i read in the manual, it's the key. there's a recognition chip in the key. anytype of metal or whatever can cause interference and not start. ever try to get another key? they need to "program" the key to your car. i have a D clip with keychain, quick swipe cards, etc. so when i go to start, the only thing i have on there is the original ring and maybe a soccer ball thingy. and re-clip when i'm outta the car.

ya but if it was a bad reading from the key the engine wouldnt even turn over, try starting the car with a 2 key from walmart

I didn't know that about the key. I don't know why it wouldn't be able to read it right away but if that is the problem then I guess that's good because that just means it's taking a second to realize it's my key and not something wrong with the engine.

well i know for a fact that an ipod in the same pocket as the key fob completely disables it, took me a while to realize, thought my sensor was broken on the door handle lol

i've had that issue several times. But i just wait a few secs and retry it usually always works. But John at my dealership, "thinks this is his educated guess been workin over 20 yrs in toyota hondas and mitsu. It's the car not being able to read that reckonition chip or whatever is in our keys." I have it in mine and i dont have keyless entry" He thinks that its like your computer and how sometimes it just stops workin and requires a reboot Microsoft lol" But again the new mitsubishi is far more complex than previous versions. But like most new things bugs always occur. Lets hope when they are resolved they do the proper recall asap.

Yeah a recall would be nice to fix that but it's not too bad right now.
