Pepboys sells paint specifically designed for rims, I was thinking of doing this, but wondering how it would come out, anyone have some input on this?
hey mann you should look around there's people who have painted their rims but ive yet to see black... ive seen golden mostly but it turned out pretty nice... i think if i can find some links ill post em up later!!
some people already sprayed thier rims... one guy already posted his rims sprayed up.. he posted in this thread... http://lancertuners.com/modules.php?nam ... pic&t=1021 Myself, I would be hesitent about painting the rims.. after awhile Im sure youd get chips in it, and chips lead to peeling, then it just looks like hell. I would look into having someone powder coating them. Powder coating will leave a very hard surface that is bonded to the rim... so no peeling ar anything. just my 2 cents.
Alright, thanks for the input, I'm going to do it heh, I'll post pics when I'm done. Hopefully within about... 2 hours
did a quick search and came up wit this, im sure theres more, but this is a good start... http://www.pcfpowder.com/customcoater001-300.html EDIT.. also found this... http://www.ctbikersguide.com/powdercoating.htm
u know what i have found that works good on wheels, duplicolor engine paint, it sticks awesome and wheel cleaner wont take it off
or do black with a red pinstripe, time attack style i did my old lancer wheels like that, it cost me like $15 and they looked decent, i used the red pinstriping tape from autozone and these are some rims i did with the duplicolor sorry for all the pics, just a few ideas
Ok, I'm at a friends shop working on this at the moment, we are in mid process and while we were doing it decided to paint my calipers as well so, here we go. (painted red now) (one sanded down, one about to be) thats it so far, I'll post more when we finish [/img]
they told me $180-$250 to powder coat my gts rims but its somewhat of a hassle because you have to take you rims off and then take your wheels somewhere to get the tire taken off the rim and then it takes a week to complete the powder coating... so i just bought new rims but anyway its a lot easier just to paint them yourself and then give them a nice clear coating
yeah i have rolled alot of painted and powdercoated rims and the painted ones normally hold up pretty decent if u prep the wheel.
haha Conduct, is that an exhaust i see? if it is damn man your a quick modder! this guy barely got his car last friday i believe and hes already got hid's, tint haha crazy nice red calipers i want to do mine
