I want to get this kit from ddm tuning- http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W Mind you I have almost no knowledge with this kind of stuff because I have only really focused on performance mods up to this point. My Lancer is a 2009 ES with the OEM headlight housing no HID's installed. My question is: I want to switch out the high beams and low beams to HID. Will I need 2 wiring harnesses or just 1? Should I just use ddm's wiring harness and error code eliminator or just buy Jrox's DRL bypass? As I said I know absolutely nothing about HID's, but ask me about performance mods and I'll go on and on. Just kinda tell me what I should expect when I'm switching the lows AND the highs.
I dont know how it is on the newer lancers but with our oem headlight housings the high beam and low beam are the same bulb. I have aftermarkets housings now and they are 2 separate bulbs. I needed 2 different harnesses when I had my high beams for hids. The only issue i had with it was waiting for high beams to warm up. but once they were.....them bad boys were bright! My gf was always like why they take so long to warm up. I told here they were powering up their lasers for stun. And that kit will work. Thats why i am using. but please make sure you get hid housings...eerrrrrhhh projector housings.
some of us cant afford the projector housing......lol i know i cant. i bought the DRL bypass fro Jrox and im waiting for that to come in, then i will buy the HID low beam conversion kit. what i hate is people driving with brights on or if they have one low beam out they turn on brights to compensate. i hate that so much. GGGGRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Driving with hids in your types of housings is the equivalent of driving with high beams on if not worse. Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
blah just aim the HIDS down you still get viability without blinding people. Thats whats i have done till i get my projectors and i have not been flashed by anyone.
A lot of ppl really dont care about these. But some ppl can't see. I genuinely cant see with normal lights riding past me. So imagine what hids do, even when focused downward. Plus on top of that I ride especially low. So normal lights blind me anyway. But I drove around in my company van at night and still get the same effect. I dont look directly into the light at all. I actually have to force myself to look away to the right side of the road so it doesnt hurt me. Yea some say this is a medical defect although it really isnt. Imagine if you were sleeping in your nice dark room and someone flashed you with a flashlight. Same effect just at a further distance with a brighter light. Just like when a cop pulls you over at night and starts to blare his/her looking light(the one above the drivers side mirror), its virtually the same effect accept his is directly pointed at you on purpose. Thats what hids in a halogen housing are from behind. Even as you say pointed down. They arent as bright but still brighter than your standard bulb. I found an article earlier last year about this specific topic. I asked him if its ok for me to post it up here. It will shed some light on the subject. This is kind of a "heated topic" if you will. Most ppl dont care. Some ppl do care but say it doesnt pertain to them on their roads cuz cops dont care. Either way its illegal. I do however understand that not all ppl can afford to buy the projector housings at the time so they make due with just putting the hids in the halogen housings. Then later on forget about buying the projector housings and nothing is made of it. I personally disagree with doing that but its my opinion. However, there are laws against it as well. Certain states vary on this law. But generally most cops dont care because even if they pull you over for it they still need a warrant to verify their findings. However, if they do have the proper tool saying that they are not the right color you can get a citation/ticket for that. I've been pulled over multiple time for something stupid by a cop but never for my headlights. Plus I would prefer not to fail inspection because of something like that.
1. Why do you want HID's in your High Beams? HID's take about 2-3 seconds to activate to full brightness, so you wouldn't be able to 'flash' your beams. 2. If you plan on using my DRL Bypass, then this is the only harness that is needed to safely run your HID's. (9006 Low Beam HID Kit + DRL Bypass) Only 1 DRL Bypass is required as the DRL signal is only passed through the Low Beams.
Like I said that is why I pretty much needed a schooling jrox. Now that I think about it the hid's for highs would be pointless. I'm basically just trying to get opinions from people on what looks best. So far what I've decided for my car is that I don't want 6000k for my headlights and I'm stuck between 8000k and 10000k. I'm trying to go for the blue headlight yellow foglight look. I want to see the difference on peoples' cars between 35w 8000k and 35w 10000k. The reason why I don't want 6000k's is because the white light is too close to stock in my opinion. The whole point for me buying an hid kit in the first place is to change the appearance of my car coming down the road. So, right now I'm leaning towards 10000k 35w for the lows and 3000k 35w for the fogs.
I'm one of those people that don't care. Other people blind me with theirs, so doesn't bother me really.
I have 8000k and i will tell you they look great but dont count on very good visibility with them. The bluer you go in the color spectrum 8000k+ means reduce visibility and your light wont project as far out basically on some dark roads you will still need to use your high beams. I am actually getting rid of my 8000K HID's and going down to 6000K cause it just sucks not seeing. When i get my projectors it will be nothing higher than 6000K
Yeah Sin I saw your HID thread on 9g that you had and I liked your setup. Maybe I should go with 55w to compensate for brightness and 10000k to compensate for the color washout?
