Stupid question but I was trying to remove this the other day to install my LED but I was afraid I was going to break it. Anyone know how it for sure pops off?
yeah man just push it forward and pull out...the thing is i havent been able to open the darn thing, if not i wouldv switched to LEDs a long time ago
Ok I will give it a shot. Thing is I kinda remember doing that but not sure cus I was worried about breaking it. I'll check on it. Thanks man.
Yeah for sure man. I won't be able to do it tomorrow since I'm out of the country so I will this weekend for sure. Have a bunch of goodies waiting for me when I get back.
Yes thats the beauty. Don't have to be so anxious and checking the mail everyday or waiting for the doorbell to ring for my packages to get there.
Nice, saves me having to post the pics. From the looks of it if your just replacing the bulb it should come right out. If your talking about painting I would imagine it would be the same as say heating it up and then separating it.
you don't need to heat it up really----here's how you do it. Take a small flathead (or any very thin strong tool like a knife etc, flathead is best) From the SMALL end of the light on the underside of the marker, slowly and gently pry around the edges, lightly lifting as you go. don't do it too hard or you'll risk cracking the case or breaking the plastic. Just go around the edges kind of like you would with a can of paint. it will pry right off. it is important to start from the small side, there is less adhesive, and wider gap in which to fit the screwdriver so you can start prying. on'ce thats done, the little cap over the lightbulb (that makes the light appear orange)----wiggle it around back and forth to loosen it and it pops right off. Then for the light, i had a harder time getting it out, as the two metal leads on it are long and run down the entire marker. wiggle the bulb a bit to loosen it up, then using needle nose pliers, push the leads up (from the bottom of the marker, where the plug is) while you wiggle the bulb till it eventually pulls out. it takes a little patients to get the bulb out but other than that it's very easy to take apart so you can paint / change the color cap / change the bulb---- I have pictures of everything but the bulb removal (forgot to take pics before i resealed it)---- so if its hard to understand what im talkin bout, let me know i'll give you pictures. *edit* and when you're all finished, reseal it together using acrylic glue / crazy clue, and you're finished*
Well, that basically is the "how to" right there....I'll slap a better one together as soon as possible, but here are the pics I have.
Yeah I tried to pry it open like you were saying a took a little chunk out of the lens so I stopped. Spooked me. Maybe I will try again when I get the nerve.lol
yeah gotta just be very very slow, gentle and careful. Naturally because of the power of the original adhesive, some of the plastic will peal away as you pry, but what SHOULDN'T pry away is the plastic lens----gotta be very careful about that
Yeah i think I will wait until I get some extra cash to dish out for a new assembly just in case and will attempt it again.
for the website http://autolumination.com/194.htm .. how do i know which of the bulbs is correct for my car?
